Netflix Announces Fifth & Final Season of 'Money Heist'

Money Heist is coming to an end.

Netflix announced that its most successful Spanish-language series, also known as Casa de papel, will end with Part 5.

The streaming platform revealed that “The heist comes to an end” in a tweet on their official account on Friday (July 31).

Filming for the fifth and final season is set to begin in Spain, Denmark and Portugal.

Narcos star Miguel Ángel Silvestre and The Invisible Line‘s Patrick Criado are joining the cast, which features Úrsula Coberó (Tokyo), Álvaro Morte (The Professor) , Itziar Ituño (Lisbon) and Pedro Alonso (Berlin) among others.

“We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band. How to put the Professor on the ropes. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of La Casa de Papel. The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season,” showrunner Alex Pina said.

'Money Heist' Actor Reveals Which Character Might Not Survive in Season 5

The fifth season of the hit Netflix series Money Heist is in the works and Alvaro Morte, who plays The Professor, is opening up about what he thinks could happen.

In seasons three and four, The Professor has been in a relationship with Inspector Murillo, who is now known as Lisbon and is working with the team in a new heist.

Even though The Professor and Lisbon are a fan-favorite couple, Alvaro thinks that his character should end up alone, which seemingly means Lisbon might die.

“I’m aware this comment will make me very unpopular,” Alvaro said at the Chelsea Film Festival (via The Irish Sun). “The Professor was a very weird guy, a very lonely guy and what happened with the band and finding love, it’s really small chapter in his life. If we’re talking about the end of the character, I think at one point, I’d like to see him go back to that loneliness, that solitary life that he’s more used to and seems more comfortable in.”

Itziar Ituno, who plays Lisbon, thinks that her character “would like to see her mom and daughter.” So perhaps she’ll find them and leave The Professor if he really wants to be alone.

There is no update on when the fifth season of Money Heist will premiere.
