Taye Diggs & Amber Riley to Lead Voice Cast of 'Little Mermaid' Prequel Series for Disney Junior

Taye Diggs and Amber Riley have joined the cast of the upcoming animated series Ariel, which will serve as a prequel to the 2023 movie The Little Mermaid.

Disney Junior and Disney+ will air the new animated musical series in 2024 and it’s aimed at pre-schoolers.

The series “follows 8-year-old mermaid princess Ariel as she and her friends embark on fun-filled, action-packed underwater adventures throughout their Caribbean-inspired fairytale kingdom of Atlantica and beyond.”

By now, you’ve likely seen AI-generated covers of hit songs performed by a variety of artists. That trend very much extends to the world of Glee, where fans are reimagining songs to sound like they were recorded by the cast.

One of the most recent to go viral is a cover of Doechii‘s “What It Is” that features Kevin McHale, Heather Morris and Amber Riley. The first two reacted to the cover and revealed what they thought about it.

Amber Riley is looking back on breaking off her engagement to DeSean Black in a new interview.

The 37-year-old former Glee star confirmed last year that she and DeSean had ended their relationship after she said yes to his proposal in 2020.

Glee is celebrating a special anniversary! Fourteen years ago, the hit musical series debuted on Fox, introducing us to so many talented actors, singers and dancers.

The cast made up the fictional New Directions show choir group and was comprised of the likes of Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Darren Criss, Naya Rivera and Amber Riley. Many of them have gone on to find impressive careers in Hollywood.

While you can see stars like Lea on Broadway in Funny Girl in 2023, we’ll never be able to forget the roles that they played on the show.

Each character had their time to shine in the spotlight and helped make Glee a hit.

Amber Riley made an appearance on Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale‘s Glee podcast And That’s What You REALLY Missed, and she opened up about a variety of topics including her recent win on The Masked Singer.

If you don’t recall, Amber found major success playing the big-voiced Mercedes Jones on the musical series. Her voice put her in a different category on the show and made her a fan favorite. Years later, it also helped her beat out the competition and wow the judges on Fox’s mysterious competition show.

Kevin went as far as to refer to his co-star as “one of the voices of our generation.”

While on the podcast, Amber opened up about her time on The Masked Singer.
