America Ferrera is speaking out about her co-workers from the Barbie movie.
Earlier in the day, America received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her work in the film. However, the film’s director, Greta Gerwig, and producer and lead actress Margot Robbie, were shut out from the Best Director and Best Actress nominations.
The 39-year-old star spoke out in an interview with Deadline about the nominations, which had her “a little bit in shock.”

The honor is given to a woman who “advocates for gender equality, portrays characters with authenticity, defies stereotypes and pushes boundaries.”

America Ferrera and husband Ryan Piers Williams hit the red carpet at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards on Sunday (January 14) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
The 39-year-old actress and the 42-year-old actor also play husband and wife in the Barbie movie!
Speaking of, their on-screen daughter Ariana Greenblatt and director Greta Gerwig were seen arriving for the awards show.
America will be receiving the SeeHer Award, which “honors a woman who advocates for gender equality, portrays characters with authenticity, defies stereotypes and pushes boundaries.” Her Barbie co-star Margot Robbie is set to present her with the award.
Barbie is also the most nominated film at the awards show, with nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress for Margot, Best Supporting Actress for America, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, Best Young Actor/Actress for Ariana, Best Acting Ensemble, and Best Original Screenplay and Best Director for Greta, among others.

There were so many stars in attendance at the 2024 AFI Awards Luncheon, celebrating the best movies and television shows of 2023.
The casts of Barbie, The Last of Us, and more were all there to honor their projects on Friday afternoon (January 12) at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The AFI Awards honorees include 10 outstanding motion pictures and 10 outstanding TV programs deemed culturally and artistically representative of this year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image.
Stars like Meryl Streep, Selena Gomez, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, and many more all attended the event this year.

The 43-year-old actor skipped the red carpet and was seen making his way into the 2024 Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 7) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Joining Ryan at the awards show were his co-stars Issa Rae, America Ferrera and husband Ryan Piers Williams, Simu Liu, Ariana Greenblatt, Will Ferrell, and Helen Mirren.
Barbie director Greta Gerwig and husband Noah Baumbach, whom she co-wrote the screenplay with, were also seen at the awards show.
Barbie was nominated for nine awards tonight including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
