Annabella Sciorra Reacts To Harvey Weinstein's Guilty Verdict

Annabella Sciorra was one of the high profile testimonies during Harvey Weinstein‘s sexual assault case in New York City this month.

After hearing the verdict where he was charged with criminal sexual assault and third-degree rape, the 59-year-old actress reacted to the news and reflected on her own testimony, which he was acquitted of.

“My testimony was painful but necessary. I spoke for myself and with the strength of the 80-plus victims of Harvey Weinstein in my heart,” Annabella shared in a statement (via THR). “While we hope for continued righteous outcomes that bring absolute justice, we can never regret breaking the silence. For in speaking truth to power we pave the way for a more just culture, free of the scourge of violence against women.”

Rosie Perez, who testified in support of Annabella and confirmed her claims, tweeted about the guilty verdict as well.

“Harvey Weinstein has been handcuffed and taken to jail!” she wrote. “Gutted for my dear friend #AnnabellaSciorra who told the truth! Yet I congratulate her and all who came forward for their bravery. This is not enough but survivors take courage! This is still a great win!”

Rosie Perez Testifies in Weinstein Trial to Back Up Annabella Sciorra's Claims

Rosie Perez leaves the court house after testifying in the Harvey Weinstein trial on Friday (January 24) in New York City.

The 55-year-old Birds of Prey actress was there to back up her friend Annabella Sciorra‘s claim that she was raped by Weinstein in the 1990s.

Rosie testified that Annabella told her she was raped during a phone call some time in 1993.

“She said something bad happened and she said, ‘I think I was raped,’ and her voice started shaking,” Rosie testified (via NBC News). “She started crying.”

It wasn’t until months later that Annabella finally told Rosie that her assaulter was Weinstein. Rosie told Annabella to go to the police, but she said, “I can’t. He’d destroy me.”

Annabella Sciorra Testifies Against Harvey Weinstein & Describes Alleged Rape

Annabella Sciorra is speaking out against Harvey Weinstein.

The Sopranos actress testified in court on Thursday (January 23) against the film producer in New York City.

According to multiple reports, she began choking up and fighting back tears while recounting the alleged rape in the early 1990s, which Harvey denies.

“As I was trying to get him off of me — I was punching him, I was kicking him — and he took my hands and put them over my head, he put my hands over my head to hold them back and he got on top of me and he raped me. He put his penis inside my vagina. He had intercourse while I was trying to fight but I couldn’t fight anymore because he had my hands locked,” she said.

“At a certain point, he stopped. He came out of me and he ejaculated on top of me, on my nightgown. He said, ‘I have perfect timing.’ And then he proceeded to put his mouth on my vagina and before he did that, he said, ‘This is for you,’” she reportedly testified.

“And I didn’t have very much fight left inside me at this point. I said, ‘No, no.’ But there was not much I could do at that point. My body shut down. It was just so disgusting that my body started to shake in a way that was very unusual. I didn’t even really know what was happening. It was like a seizure or something.”

If convicted, Harvey could be sentenced to life in prison. He has denied the allegations against him and previously pleaded not guilty to the New York charges.
