'Bandersnatch' Details: Number of Endings Revealed (Interactive Film Guide)

Netflix just launched Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the first-ever adult-oriented / live action interactive experience on the streaming service.

Every single viewer watching the movie will get to choose what happens next. The journeys you go on are a direct result of your decisions.

Netflix says, “There are choices to be made, challenges to overcome, dangers to encounter and, as always in life (and Black Mirror), consequences to be had. Choosing wisely could lead to triumph while taking the wrong path could end in disaster — but who’s to say what’s ‘right’ and ‘wrong,’ anyway? And fret not because once one experience comes to a close, you can — and should! — go back and make a new choice, alter the path of your story and maybe even change its outcome.”

There are some other interactive titles on Netflix, including Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, though they have all been children’s programs until now. Click here for more info on interactive programming.

So, how many different endings are there? Netflix confirms there are “five main endings with multiple variants of each,” though there is still a little bit of mystery involved and fans might uncover more!

There are over a trillion permutations for how you could watch the movie, but that doesn’t mean there are a trillion unique paths or storylines.

What is a Bandersnatch? Origin of 'Black Mirror' Title Explained

The new Black Mirror event movie Bandersnatch is about to premiere and you might be wondering… what does the word Bandersnatch mean?

Well, the origin of the title dates back to 1872 when it was featured in the Lewis Carroll novel “Through the Looking Glass.”

In the poem “Jabberwocky,” which is featured in the book, the poem’s narrator tells his son to “shun the frumious Bandersnatch.”

The Bandersnatch also made an appearance in Carroll‘s poem “The Hunting of the Snark” in 1874. In the poem, the creature is encountered by a group of adventurers and it’s described as having a long extending neck and snapping jaws.

It’s not yet known if the original Bandersnatch has a connection to the film, but the film revolves around an adventure game called Bandersnatch, based on a fictional book from the universe of the film.
