Barry Jenkins will be directing Mufasa: The Lion King, the upcoming prequel to the 2019 live-action adaptation of The Lion King.

The film will tell the origin story of the iconic Disney father lion, exploring his childhood growing up with his brother Scar.

Kristen Stewart & Jessica Chastain Arrive in Style for Producers Guild Awards 2022

Kristen Stewart and Jessica Chastain are stepping out for the night!

The Oscar-nominated actress were both in attendance at the 2022 Producers Guild Awards held on Saturday night (March 19) at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

Other stars in attendance included Meryl Streep, Dune director Denis Villeneuve and wife Tanya Lapointe, George Lucas and wife Mellody Hobson, Moonlight actor Barry Jenkins, Ryan Murphy, along with Love, Simon director Greg Berlanti and husband Robbie Rogers.

West Side Story stars Rita Moreno and David Alvarez were also in attendance along with the film’s director Steven Spielberg.

During the show, Jessica presented Rita with the 2022 Stanley Kramer Award, which honors individuals for their achievements in raising public awareness for social issues.

Kirsten Dunst & Jesse Plemons Couple Up for DGA Awards 2022 in Beverly Hills

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons are hitting the red carpet!

The 39-year-old actress and the 33-year-old actor posed together at the 2022 DGA Awards on Saturday evening (March 12) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

For the event, Kirsten looked pretty in a black, velvet blazer over a white dress while Jesse sported a brown suit.

HBO's 'Succession' & 'The White Lotus' Casts Reunite at AFI Awards 2022!

Members of the casts of Succession and The White Lotus stepped out to honor their shows at the 2022 AFI Awards!

The luncheon, which honored the shows that earned spots on AFI’s Top 10 TV Shows of the Year list, took place on Friday (March 11) at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Succession was represented by Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Brian Cox, Nicholas Braun, and J. Smith-Cameron while The White Lotus had stars Connie Britton, Murray Bartlett, Brittany O’Grady, and Alexandra Daddario in attendance.

Also there were Mare of Easttown‘s Evan Peters and Julianne Nicholson, The Underground Railroad‘s Thuso Mbedu and William Jackson Harper with director Barry Jenkins, WandaVision‘s Kathryn Hahn, and Reservation DogsLane Factor, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Paulina Alexis, and Devery Jacobs.

The Top 10 shows of the Year are Hacks, Maid, Mare of Easttown, Reservation Dogs, Schmigadoon!, Succession, Ted Lasso, The Underground Railroad, WandaVision, and The White Lotus.

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied are enjoying a night out!

The 40-year-old actress and the 44-year-old choreographer stepped out for the Unforgettable Evening Under the Stars event held on Saturday evening (October 16) in Los Angeles.

The event was held to benefit the L.A. Dance Project, which Benjamin founded back in 2011.

'Lion King' Follow Up Movie In the Works, Director Barry Jenkins Confirms!

Oscar winner Barry Jenkins is set to direct a follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster The Lion King. He confirmed the news on his Twitter account.

There is no details about the film, and some sites are calling it a “prequel” while some sites are labeling the film as a “sequel.”

Deadline reports that the new film will continue with the photo-realistic technology used in the 2019 film, and “the story will further explore the mythology of the characters, including Mufasa’s origin story.”

The 2019 film starred Donald Glover (Simba) and Beyonce (Nala), Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner (Zazu, Pumbaa and Timon), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Alfre Woodard (Sarabi), Eric André, Florence Kasumba and Keegan-Michael Key (hyenas Azizi, Shenzi and Kamari), JD McCrary (Young Simba), and Shahadi Wright Joseph (Young Nala).
