If Beale Street Could Talk stars Stephan James and KiKi Layne join forces at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences official screening!

The actors stepped out for the event held at the MoMA, Celeste Bartos Theater on Thursday (November 29) in New York City.

They were joined by their other co-star Brian Tyree Henry, as well as director/writer/producer Barry Jenkins and composer Nicholas Britell.

Moonlight filmmaker Barry‘s If Beale Street Could Talk is already getting a ton of buzz this awards season.

An adaptation of James Baldwin‘s acclaimed novel, it tells the story of a woman in Harlem who desperately scrambles to prove her fiance innocent of a crime while carrying their first child.

If Beale Street Could Talk is Moonlight filmmaker Barry Jenkins‘ new movie and it is getting a ton of buzz this awards season!

The final poster and trailer for the new drama, an adaptation of James Baldwin‘s acclaimed novel, have been released online.

Set in early-1970s Harlem, If Beale Street Could Talk is a timeless and moving love story of both a couple’s unbreakable bond and the African-American family’s empowering embrace, as told through the eyes of 19-year-old Tish Rivers (screen newcomer KiKi Layne). A daughter and wife-to-be, Tish vividly recalls the passion, respect and trust that have connected her and her artist fiancé Alonzo Hunt, who goes by the nickname Fonny (Stephan James). Friends since childhood, the devoted couple dream of a future together but their plans are derailed when Fonny is arrested for a crime he did not commit.

Also starring in the movie are Regina King, Colman Domingo, Teyonah Parris, Brian Tyree Henry, Michael Beach, Ed Skrein, Diego Luna, Dave Franco, and Pedro Pascal.

If Beale Street Could Talk hits theaters on December 14.

Kerry Washington helped host a special screening of If Beale Street Could Talk!

The 41-year-old actress stepped out for the event on Monday evening (November 26) at Landmark 57 Theatre in New York City.

Kerry hosted alongside husband Nnamdi Asomugha.

The couple was joined by the film’s cast including Kiki Layne and Stephan James, as well as director Barry Jenkins.

The film follows a woman in Harlem who scrambles to prove her fiancé innocent of a crime while pregnant with their first child.

If Beale Street Could Talk is set to hit theaters on December 14th.

KiKi serves as the lead in the 38-year-old Oscar-winning director’s upcoming film If Beale Street Could Talk, his first since the release of Moonlight.

It has just been announced that Barry is expanding his relationship with Amazon Studios, signing a first-look deal via his Pastel banner to develop television series for premiere on Amazon Prime Video, according to Variety.

Barry is slated to direct all eleven episodes of limited series The Underground Railroad, which received a script-to-series commitment from Amazon Studios in June.

Barry Jenkins keeps it cool and casual while walking the red carpet at the photo call and press conference for his latest film If Beale Street Could Talk held during the 2018 Rome Film Fest at Auditorium Parco Della Musica on Sunday (October 21) in Rome, Italy.

The 38-year-old Oscar-winning writer-director then switched into a suit to premiere the film at the festival.

This is Barry‘s first film since the Oscar-winning Moonlight.

The 47-year-old Emmy-winning actress was joined at the event by the film’s director Barry Jenkins, as well as her co-stars KiKi Layne, Stephan James, Brian Tyree Henry, Colman Domingo, Teyonah Parris, Aunjanue Ellis, Emily Rios, Diego Luna, Finn Wittrock, Ed Skrein, Ebony Obsidian, Dominique Thorne and Marcia Jean Kurtz.

Also in attendance to show their support was Lakeith Stanfield, Samira Wiley, Naturi Naughton, Josh Radnor, Alia Shawkat and Megan Boone.
