Austin Butler steps out alongside Elvis director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer (and Baz’s wife) Catherine Martin at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards held at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel on Sunday (January 15) in Los Angeles.

The 31-year-old actor is nominated this evening for his work as Best Actor in Elvis.

This is the first appearance for Austin after the tragic and sudden death of Lisa Marie Presley, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 54. She went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital earlier this week. Lisa Marie was the only child of Elvis Presley.

Austin released a statement after her passing. Our continued thoughts are with Lisa Marie’s family and loved ones. RIP.

Elvis director Baz Lurhmann paid tribute to Lisa Marie Presley after her devastating death.

The iconic singer-songwriter who was Elvis Presley‘s only daughter passed away at the age of 54 on Thursday (January 12) after going into cardiac arrest.

Baz took to social media to remember his lost friend.

“Over the last year, the entire Elvis movie family and I have felt the privilege of Lisa Marie’s kind embrace. Her sudden, shocking loss has devastated people all around the world,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of Lisa Marie and Elvis star Austin Butler.

He continued, “I know her fans everywhere join me in sharing prayers of love and support with her mother, Priscilla, and her wonderful daughters Riley, Finley and Harper.”

“Lisa Marie, we will miss your warmth, your smile, your love,” he concluded.

There has been an outpouring of love for Lisa Marie and her family in the hours since her death as many celebrities shared their thoughts. That includes Elvis star Tom Hanks, who issued a touching statement.

Lisa Marie‘s final resting place was confirmed by her oldest daughter’s team.

The movie Elvis has been receiving so many awards this year already and it’s likely going to be nominated for many Oscars too.

Austin Butler just won the Golden Globe award for Best Actor – Drama and he’s likely going to secure an Oscar nomination for his performance as well.

Amid the news that Lisa Marie Presley has tragically passed away, just two days after she stepped out to attend the Golden Globes, fans will likely be looking for ways to watch Elvis at home.

Less than 48 hours before she passed away, Lisa Marie Presley was on the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globes, where she made her now-final public appearance.

The iconic singer-songwriter, who was the only child of the legendary Elvis Presley, tragically died at the age of 54 on Thursday (January 12) after going into cardiac arrest.

Lisa Marie and her mom Priscilla Presley were both in attendance at the Golden Globes to support the movie Elvis, which was nominated for several awards. She also walked the carpet with longtime manager Jerry Schilling.

Elvis was up for Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director for Baz Luhrmann, and Best Actor – Drama for Austin Butler.

The mother-daughter duo posed for a photo with the two guys and helped Austin celebrate his big win. He even thanked them during his acceptance speech!

Baz Luhrmann also joined the 31-year-old actor, who portrayed Lisa‘s real father, Elvis Presley, on screen in Elvis.

Austin rocked a dazzling pin-stripe jacket for the bash, which was also to celebrate what would have been Elvis‘ 88th birthday.

Just a day before, Austin was spotted at another pre-Golden Globes event. There, he stopped to say hi to some fans and also signed a few mementos for them, including a real guitar!

Speaking to People over the weekend, Austin revealed that he’s bringing his sister Ashley as his plus one to the awards on Tuesday.

“She’s my one and only sister, so it’ll be nice to be with her,” he shared.

Kate Hudson, Austin Butler and Angela Bassett were just a few of the stars on hand for Variety’s Directors to Watch Brunch during the 2023 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The star-studded event took place at Parker Palm Springs on Friday (January 6) in Palm Springs, Calif.

Austin was joined by Elvis director Baz Luhrmann, who was recognized with the Creative Impact in Directing Award.
