The 2024 Governors Awards brought out so many stars for the big event!

Stars including Margot Robbie, Florence Pugh, Leonardo DiCaprio, Zac Efron, and hit the red carpet at the 14th annual event on Tuesday evening (January 9) held at The Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood, Calif.

During this year’s Governors Awards, Angela Bassett, filmmaker Mel Brooks, Sundance Institute’s Michelle Satter, and editor Carol Littleton will all be awarded honorary Oscars for their contributions to the film industry.

Oscar winners Emma Stone and Penelope Cruz were among the stars who honored emerging directors during a brunch event at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The actresses were both in attendance at the 2024 Variety Creative Impact and 10 Directors to Watch event at Parker Palm Springs on Friday (January 5) in Palm Springs, Calif.

Emma and Penelope were joined by this year’s new Oscar hopefuls Danielle Brooks from The Color Purple and Lily Gladstone from Killers of the Flower Moon.

Also in attendance were Emma‘s Poor Things co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe, plus director Yorgos Lanthimos, as well as Danielle‘s The Color Purple director Blitz Bazawule.

During the event, Penelope was honored with the Variety Creative Impact in Acting Award for Ferrari. Yorgos was presented with the Variety Creative Impact in Directing Award for Poor Things.

Taraji presented Danielle with the Spotlight Award at the event on Thursday (January 4) at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs, Calif.

Danielle received the award for her work in The Color Purple and her co-star Colman Domingo also received a Spotlight Award, though for his work in the movie Rustin.

They were all joined at the event by The Color Purple director Blitz Bazawule.

During a recent interview, Danielle talked about a scene in the movie that was so hard on her body that she ended up going to physical therapy for weeks to recover.

The stars of The Color Purple are taking over New York City!

The stars of the new movie musical – Danielle Brooks, Fantasia Barrino, and Taraji P. Henson – helped light up the Empire State Building on Tuesday afternoon (December 12) in NYC.

Director Blitz Bazawule and producer Oprah Winfrey were also in attendance.

Some of Hollywood’s best and brightest stars walked the red carpet at the world premiere of The Color Purple on Wednesday night (December 6) in Los Angeles.

The movie’s stars – including Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Halle Bailey, Ciara and H.E.R. -arrived at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures dressed in their chicest outfits.

They were joined by so many other celebrities, who showed support at the big event. The guestlist included Oprah Winfrey (who acted as a producer for the movie), Ariana DeBose, Chloe Bailey, Quinta Brunson and so many others.

The musical The Color Purple movie is being released later this year and the cast just made an appearance at CinemaCon!

Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, and Taraji P. Henson joined producer Oprah Winfrey and director Blitz Bazawule on stage at the event on Tuesday afternoon (April 25) at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Oprah took to her Instagram account to give an inside look at the event, where she interviewed the cast in front of movie theater owners.

Fantasia, who played Celie in the first Broadway production, talked about her experience with the role.
