The Songs of the Summer for 2003-2023 Revealed - Only 3 Artists Appear on The List More Than Once

The concept of the Song of the Summer has become omnipresent in recent years, but Billboard has been tracking the data since 1958.

As the weather heats up outside, many of our favorite artists begin to churn out bops and bangers that rocket up the charts. Each year, only one of them can become the defining anthem of the summer.

Billboard unveiled the Song of the Summer for 2023 on Tuesday (September 5). This year Morgan Wallen‘s “Last Night” took the top spot.

In honor of the announcement, we looked back on Billboard’s charts to determine what song dominated the charts each summer from 2003 until 2023. We even noted the bop that came in second place each year! In the case of 2023, we rounded up the Top 5.

While looking back, we noticed that only three artists in the last 21 years were able to claim the Song of the Summer more than once. Can you guess who?

Carly Rae Jepsen is making it up to her fans after having to abruptly cancel her New York City concert, just 15 minutes into the show.

The “Call Me Maybe” singer was performing her show at The Rooftop at Pier 17, but a rain and lightning storm caused it to be canceled just a few songs into the event.

“Nobody is getting electrocuted tonight!” Carly Rae announced to the crowd while telling everyone that she was being forced to end the performance.

Carly Rae Jepsen Reveals Why Upcoming Record 'The Loveliest Time' Is Her Favorite Album to Date

Carly Rae Jepsen is opening up about her new record, The Loveliest Time, out on Friday (July 28).

The 37-year-old “Run Away With Me” superstar shared a note with fans on Monday (July 24) ahead of the album’s release.

“I wanted to personally thank you for all your love and support over the years. It’s been such a wild ride since The Loneliest Time was released. We travelled to Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, the Phillippines, Japan, and we are still on the move: NYC, LA, Chicago, South America and beyond! Who Do You Think Is The Last Mystery Artist On The 'Barbie' Soundtrack? (Poll)

Barbie is shaping up to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, and its accompanying soundtrack is every bit as major.

Out on July 21, we already know that the album features original music from the likes of Dua Lipa (who kicked things off with lead single “Dance the Night”), Lizzo, Charli XCX, Khalid, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice (who joined forces for an update on Aqua‘s iconic “Barbie Girl”). Ryan Gosling even has a song in the mix!

However, there were two big mysteries on the tracklist when it was first revealed. We have since learned that one of them is an original song from Billie Eilish. The last is still a guessing game.

Executive producer Mark Ronson offered a big hint on who it might be, which helped us come up with a shortlist of potential artists. Now, we want to know who you would be most excited to see on the album!

Carly Rae Jepsen Announces Special Summer Shows for N.Y. & L.A.

Carly Rae Jepsen is playing four very special shows this summer for fans on opposite sides of the country!

The “Cut to the Feeling” singer will perform two shows in New York City and two shows in Los Angeles in early August.

Carly Rae will be joined on the mini-tour by Poolside for the NY dates and Harvey Sutherland for the LA dates.
