The Broadway production of Anastasia will begin performances in March and a new video of the musical’s star Christy Altomare singing the classic song “Journey to the Past” has been released!

Christy returned to her alma mater, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, to perform the song alongside a large orchestra.

The show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920′s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya (Altomare) enlists the aid of a dashing con man (Derek Klena) and a lovable ex-aristocrat (Ramin Karimloo). Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.

Performances on Broadway begin on March 23 and the official opening night will be on April 24.

Also in attendance were Megan Hilty and her husband Brian Gallagher, Laura Osnes, Andy Karl, The Good Wife‘s Josh Charles and his wife Sophie Flack, Spring Awakening‘s Kathryn Gallagher, and future Anastasia the Musical stars Christy Altomare and Derek Klena.

The show’s stars Corbin Bleu, Bryce Pinkham, and Megan Sikora posed for photos at the party following the performance.

Rebel is set to be honored at the 5th Annual Australians in Film Awards on October 19 in Los Angeles.

A trailer for the new Broadway musical Anastasia has been released and it’s getting us so excited for the show to open next year!

The musical will be a fresh take on the classic animated film, which tells the story of a “brave young woman attempting to discover the mystery of her past while finding a place for herself in the rapidly changing world of a new century.”

The musical will feature such songs as “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon a December,” along with new music written just for the stage.

Christy Altomare is playing the title role while Derek Klena while be taking on her love interest, Dmitry.
