'Cobra Kai' Showrunners Reveal The Endgame They Have In Mind For The Show

Cobra Kai is a very popular series on Netflix, which follows Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso into adulthood.

The showrunners for the series, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, have opened up in a new interview about the end they have in mind, and it’s not at the end of season four. Instead, they have ideas that will lead them into season five, and maybe six. Or, even season seven.

“We have an endgame in our heads,” the trio shared with TV Line. “We’ve had one for quite some time, and it’s not in Season 4. It’s well beyond that.”

The three added that in their minds, “we have seasons’ worth of story that is necessary to tell before we get to that endgame.”

“That will be a discussion going forward with our new partners at Netflix. Can we write to that endgame? Can we know that it’s coming?” Jon, Josh and Hayden continued. “That’s not always the case with television and we respect that. For now, we’re continuing to write at the same speed and with the same path that we set out with from the beginning.”

At the moment, Cobra Kai hasn’t been renewed for a fourth season. The three, and many fans, are hoping that changes soon.

The current season is streaming now on Netflix, and included a tribute to an original movie star. See who it was here…

'Cobra Kai' Season 3 Includes a Tribute to Rob Garrison, an Original 'Karate Kid' Actor Who Died in 2019

The third season of Cobra Kai is now streaming on Netflix and you might notice a tribute to a late actor at the end of the first episode.

Rob Garrison, who played Tommy in the movie Karate Kid back in 1984 and reprised his role in season two of Cobra Kai, died in September 2019.

Garrison was just 59 when he passed away after being hospitalized for a month due to kidney and liver failure.

At the end of the first episode of season three, a tribute reads “1960-2019″ along with the note, “Cobra Kai never dies.”

William Zabka, who plays Johnny Lawrence on the show, wrote a tribute on Instagram on the one-year anniversary of Rob’s death. He wrote at the time, “Yesterday marked one year since we lost our brother & OG #CobraKai Rob (‘Tommy’) Garrison. So grateful we had the chance to reunite the characters that brought us together so many years ago. He was extremely proud of this episode —- and like a true Cobra he put his heart into it & left it all on the mat! His legacy will live forever… ‘Cobra Kai Never Dies.’”

You can watch the new season of Cobra Kai now on Netflix.

'Cobra Kai' Season 3 Launching on Netflix a Week Early

Fans can expect new episodes of Cobra Kai sooner than planned!

According to Variety, Netflix will be releasing the third season a week earlier than originally planned, with episodes dropping next Friday (January 1).

Cobra Kai expands on the 1980 film franchise The Karate Kid. Ralph Maccio and William Zabka reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, former rivals who must team up to save the dojo from notorious sensei John Kreese, played by Martin Kove.

“The third season also finds everyone reeling from the aftermath of the violent brawl between dojos, which left Miguel (Xolo Mariduena) in a coma. The stakes in its upcoming season have never been higher, with, as the streamer puts it, the soul of the Valley at stake, and the fate of every student and sensei hanging in the balance,” Variety reports.

The cast will join comedians David Spade, Fortune Feimster and London Hughes on The Netflix Afterparty to discuss their latest season the day after it airs.
