The AAFCA Awards had a lot of Oscar nominees in attendance!

Danielle Brooks, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Lily Gladstone were all honored with awards at the 2024 African American Film Critics Association Awards on Wednesday (February 21) in Los Angeles.

Origin won Best Drama and lead star Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor was given Best Actress, though she wasn’t there to accept.

Colman Domingo picked up Best Actor for Rustin and Sterling K. Brown won Best Supporting Actor for American Fiction. There was a tie for Best Supporting Actress with Danielle winning for The Color Purple and Da’Vine winning for The Holdovers.

Lily won the Breakout Performance award for Killers of the Flower Moon and the cast of The Color Purple won for Best Ensemble.

American Fiction‘s Jeffrey Wright won the Acting Legend Award.

Danielle, Da’Vine, Lily, Colman, Sterling, and Jeffrey are all nominated at the Oscars!

Colman Domingo spilled some tea during a conversation with Vanity Fair.

The 54-year-old Oscar nominee opened up about the third season of Euphoria, confirming that he’d be returning to the hit HBO series and sharing what he knew about it so far.

He spoke candidly about how he and his castmates have processed the death of Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away at the age of 25 in July 2023. Colman revealed that his passing affected the show’s story as well as its cast.

Colman even weighed in on the rumors that he is set to take over a previously cast role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and revealed a major dream role that he would like to tackle at some point in his career.

Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, and so many more A-List stars were in attendance to mingle with fellow nominees on Monday afternoon (February 12) at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Only three of the acting nominees – Robert De Niro, Danielle Brooks, and Jodie Foster – were missing from the event. 17 out of the 20 nominated actors attended!

Every year at the luncheon, a “class photo” is taken with each nominated star called up to the stage one by one. The stars who are called up first have to stand in their spot and wait for every other person to be announced before the photo is taken!

Colman Domingo is opening up about his love life.

The 54-year-old Euphoria star got candid about his relationship with husband Raúl Domingo during an interview on The Graham Norton Show.

“You’re in Berkeley, California in 2005 and you’re minding your business going into a Walgreens,” he began to explain. “I’m just going there in Berkeley to get a mask for the night, you know, facial mask. So I’m walking in and I see someone walking out, has beautiful hair down to here, lip piercing, beautiful. I see this guy and we look at each other. I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ And I’m on the phone and I come outside and we look at each other and he’s talking to this young woman and she seemed to be angry about something.”

It’s been a big day for Colman Domingo!

The 54-year-old actor, who just received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his work in Rustin, was announced to star in two exciting biopics, both on the same day.

The day began with news that Colman will be playing the role of Michael Jackson‘s father Joe Jackson in the upcoming biopic Michael. The project will star the late King of Pop’s actual nephew Jafaar Jackson.

The 54-year-old Oscar nominee will play the late King of Pop’s father Joe Jackson in the project, which is titled Michael. He’ll share the screen with Michael‘s nephew Jafaar Jackson, who is bringing the musician to life.

The head of HBO just provided an update on season three of Euphoria, which isn’t expected to be released until 2025.

Casey Bloys confirmed to Variety that the third season is currently being written and we already know that some stars will not be back.

The exec wouldn’t confirm or deny if season three is the last.

“Obviously the cast have all become stars, which you love to see — and Zendaya is obviously a big movie star,” he said. “So, there is a practical reality to that. But it also depends on the stories Sam wants to tell. He’s in the thick of writing Season 3 right now and we’ll leave it up to him and have those conversations about what he wants to do.”
