During the conversation, Debra admitted she felt “too skinny” while filming the series after dropping from a size 8 to a size 2.

“When I started Will & Grace I was a size 8 and what happened was, every time I would go in for a fitting, I couldn’t fit into clothes. Eighty percent of it I couldn’t fit into and I would just leave hating my body and hating myself. I loved my costume designer, she would always say, ‘Don’t worry,’ and she would talk to her assistant and say, ‘OK, can you call over and get a larger size?’ And that was sort of the thing that was always on repeat all the time,” she explained.

“So of course, I thought, ‘My life would be so much easier, and it would be easier on everybody trying to do their job, if I just lost weight. So I started doing yoga every single day and I did one of those meal delivery services. I started to get smaller and then I was a 6, and they were like, ‘You’re losing weight, you look amazing!’” she continued.

The message she heard “as a woman was, ‘Oh, this is making them happy, so I should do more of it.’”

“Then I was lucky enough to be invited on the red carpet to the Emmys and the Golden Globes, and that was the same time that Ally McBeal was at its height and Calista [Flockhart] was the ‘It’ girl and Portia de Rossi also was so so slim, and she’s spoken openly about her anorexia, so it’s all within sort of the same theme. I would try to fit into these gowns and of course they weren’t sample sizes and it was like, ‘OK, we have to let out the seams, etc,’” she went on to explain.

“This was supposed to be the greatest time of my life, being nominated for Best Actress in a TV show I loved for an Emmy and walking on the red carpet. I walked out and I immediately felt so incredible, and then I was standing next to all of these other actresses who were half my size, and I felt fat, and I felt ugly. I look back at those pictures and I was beautiful! I mourn the fact that that was my interpretation of reality and that was the torture that I put myself through.”

“I was way too skinny…but, you know, going in for those fittings, I fit into everything. And all of a sudden, I literally could fit into anything that was high fashion. So all of a sudden, everything seemed to open up for me, because I was a 2.”

Celebrities Create 'Take Responsibility' Racism PSA, Resulting in Backlash

Stars are coming together to “take responsibility” for racism – but not everyone is impressed with their call to action.

The video, made in partnership with the NAACP, features stars like Kristen Bell, Aaron Paul and Debra Messing speaking about white privilege and taking responsibility to call out racism.

“I take responsibility for every unchecked moment, for every time it was easier to ignore than to call it out for what it was. Every not-so-funny joke. Every unfair stereotype. Every blatant injustice no matter how big or small. Every time I remained silent. Every time I explained away police brutality or turned a blind eye. I take responsibility. Black people are being slaughtered in the streets. Killed in their own homes. These are our brothers and sisters. Our friends. Our family. We are done watching them die. We are no longer bystanders; we will not be idle. Enough is enough,” they say.

“Confluential Films and the NAACP have partnered to launch the impact-oriented campaign, I Take Responsibility, where influential voices from the white community take responsibility for turning the racist tide in America. #itakeresponsibility itakeresponsibility.org,” the video’s description reads.

While some have appreciated the message of the video, others compared it to the widely criticized “Imagine” celebrity singalong video amid the pandemic, criticizing it as an empty display of performative allyship amid global protests condemning racism. Others also mocked their behavior in the videos, comparing it to an audition for a role.

Pete Buttigieg, Justin Mikita, Debra Messing & More React To Trump Administration Moving to Block LGBTQ Couples From Adopting

Celebrities are calling out and reacting to the Trump Administration allowing a bill to move forward to the Supreme Court which would give adoption agencies the right to refuse LGBTQ couples to adopt a child.

In the bried, that was filed this week, the DOJ is arguing that “cities should not be able to protect LGBTQ+ couples from discrimination by religious organizations.”

It all dates back to 2018 when Catholic Social Services sued the city of Philadelphia. CSS refused to place a child with a same sex couple, which went against their contract with the city that stated they must abide by nondiscrimination policies.

The case is now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The DOJ’s brief claims that “The City impermissibly targeted religious organizations … the city focused only on religious agencies, making just a single inquiry to a secular foster-care agency. … City officials made no effort to determine whether other secular agencies perform home studies for everyone who requests them.”

Many celebs are slamming the administration for allowing the case to go to the Supreme Court at all.

“Tax dollars should not be used to discriminate. Period,” Pete Buttigieg, who is gay and a former Presidential hopeful, wrote on Twitter in regards to the news.

Earlier over the weekend, Donald Trump confused a lot of Twitter users by liking this tweet.

Debra Messing is dishing on a possible Smash reboot!

The 51-year-old actress joined her former co-stars during the virtual one-night-only streaming event Bombshell in Concert on Wednesday night (May 20).

During the reunion, Debra opened up about how much the show meant to her.

When the idea of a potential reboot was brought up, Debra said, “I’m constantly asked, you know, especially [because] I was on a reboot … And I’m like, ‘If it’s in New York, I’m in.’”

Smash ran for two seasons on NBC.

Debra Messing & Mandana Dayani's 'The Dissenters' Podcast Is Launching in One Day!

Debra Messing and Mandana Dayani have a new podcast launching this week – The Dissenters!

The longtime friends teamed up for the new project in which they speak to one of their heroes each week. The name for the podcast was inspired by Ruth Bader Ginsburg‘s iconic “I Dissent” slogan. The idea of dissent is saying “No, I will not have this. There is a better way and I am here to build it.”

Each of the 20 Dissenters featured on the podcast just made the decision one day to dissent: to challenge the status quo, stand up to an injustice or make a tremendous difference in their communities. Some of the special guests include Hillary Clinton, Jane Fonda, Sophia Bush, Eva Longoria, Jameela Jamil, Christian Siriano, and more.

“We’re both nerds, we’re very much into activism and organizing and we realized all of these people that re inspiring us, we wanted to share with other people. we wanted to meet our heroes,” Debra told Deadline. Mandana added, “We have both worked as social justice advocates. There are so many people that want to get off the sidelines and give back, but they either feel like activism is something that other people do, they’re not qualified or they don’t have enough followers. But the more we learned was that most of these people had any prior experience.”

Debra is an actor and philanthropist, best known for her work on Will & Grace. Mandana is an entrepreneur, attorney and the creator/co-founder of I am a voter. The podcast is produced by the Dear Media podcast network.

You can subscribe to The Dissenters podcast right now on Apple Podcasts. New episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays!

Debra Messing‘s contract is the reason why Will & Grace‘s final season was not effected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The show – starring Debra Messing, Megan Mullally, Sean Hayes, and Eric McCormack – ended its reboot run this month, and there was no delay in filming all because of Debra‘s contract.

'Will & Grace' Creators Address Tension on Set for Final Season

The series finale of Will & Grace aired last night and it’s no secret that there was some tension on set during the final season.

It was reported that Megan Mullally stepped away from the show for a few episodes and fans also noticed that she and other cast members had unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Series co-creator Max Mutchnick addressed the on-set tension during a post-show interview with EW.

“We always work under this kind of motto that everything’s about the work. It’s just about the work. And so if we stay true to that, then we just keep you guys out of whatever happened on the set this year because it would have done nothing but get in the way of the stories that we wanted to tell,” he said. “It was not an easy year, but the permanent legacy of the show is much more important to us than any temporary squabble that would take place on the stage.”
