The number one movie on Netflix right now is a new film titled Cut Throat City and an awards push is being planned after the massive success!

You might not have heard much about the film yet as it’s not a Netflix original, so the streaming service is not promoting it. Some incredible word-of-mouth helped the film secure the top slot on the trending chart.

Cut Throat City was directed by rapper RZA and it features an all-star cast with Shameik Moore, Wesley Snipes, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Kat Graham, Demetrius Shipp Jr., Eiza Gonzalez, Ethan Hawke, and Terrence Howard.

Opening on a gritty graphic novel animation, Cut Throat City finds four boyhood friends return to NOLA’s Lower Ninth Ward in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As FEMA fails to provide aid to their wracked community, they reluctantly turn to a local gangster for help. When that job goes horribly awry, they must outrun–and outsmart—a system rife with corruption and filled with both malevolent and colorful characters.

A press release from the film’s distributor, Well Go USA Entertainment, says that the film will be getting an awards push this year!

Kat Graham still has nothing but love for Jada Pinkett Smith following her claims that many of the plot lines in All Eyez on Me are inaccurate.

The 27-year-old actress plays the role of Jada in the Tupac biopic, which is out now. “She’s been nothing but supportive and I will never be anything but supportive of her. We’re making a move about a really controversial person,” Kat told the BBC while attending the UK premiere of All Eyez On Me with co-star Demetrius Shipp Jr. on Tuesday (June 27) in London, England.

“I’d rather be part of a film that had a tonne of love and a tonne of hate rather than a film that people shrugged at and said ‘that was alright’,” Kat continued. “This is obviously not an easy film for anyone that was in Pac’s life to watch. I completely understand how difficult this must be and I’m grateful for her grace. I hope that I’m giving her that back. I hope she [Jada] knows I have her back and that I love her.”

“I tend not to focus on people who don’t feel a certain way,” Demetrius, who plays Tupac, added. “More importantly for me are the people who walked with TuPac and lived with him, who were actually family members. They’ve seen the movie, the people who were close, and they love the movie. I can’t say I don’t care about someone else’s opinion who doesn’t necessarily know him but I just say those people [the ones who knew him] mean more to me.”

FYI: Kat is carrying an Edie Parker clutch and is wearing Tamara Mellon heels.

Big Sean and girlfriend Jhene Aiko stepped out together for the 2017 BET Awards!

The couple went for matching red looks while hitting the carpet before the show on Sunday (June 25) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Sean and Jhene were also joined at the event by French Montana, Tyrese Gibson, Demetrius Shipp Jr and Shaun Ross.

Later in the show, Big Sean is set to take the stage for a performance. He’s also nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Video of the Year!

Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken out about the new film All Eyez on Me, which portrays her relationship with the late Tupac Shakur.

The movie, starring Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Kat Graham, was released on Friday (June 16), which would have been the rapper’s 46th birthday.

“Forgive me… my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth,” Jada wrote on Twitter before slamming the inaccuracies in the movie.

While Jada does not support the film, she said it’s not the fault of the two actors and praised Demetrius and Kat for doing a “beautiful job with what [they] were given.”

Demetrius Shipp Jr. is dapper in a suit while hitting the carpet at the premiere of his anticipated film All Eyez On Me held at the Westwood Village Theatres on Wednesday (June 14) in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old actor, who plays prolific rapper, actor, poet and activist Tupac Shakur in the flick, was joined at the event by his co-stars Danai Gurira, Kat Graham and DeRay Davis.

Also in attendance to show their support was Big Boi, Luke Hemsworth and his wife Samantha, Tara Reid, Keyshia Cole and Tia Mowry.

All Eyez On Me is hitting theaters on Friday (June 16)!
