Doug Stanhope Says Johnny Depp Thanked Him for Defense Against Amber Heard's Claims

Johnny Depp‘s friend Doug Stanhope, who wrote an open letter defending the actor against Amber Heard‘s claims of domestic violence, is opening up about the reaction to his article.

Amber and her team have filed a defamation lawsuit against Doug as he claimed that she is blackmailing her husband.

“Anything that I say, they can twist my words,” Doug said on The Howard Stern Show. “It’s such a bulls–t suit.”

Doug also talked about how the article he wrote ended up going viral and how words were put in his mouth.

“I put it on my website. The title was ‘At a Loss for Words’ … whatever it was. TheWrap got it as an exclusive, however that worked, and said, ‘Amber Heard Is Blackmailing Johnny Depp – This Is How I Know.’ I didn’t write that f–king title. I didn’t put that stupid tabloid title in there. I’m a better writer than that, so I don’t know if it’s hinged on that, I don’t know how much of it is spite,” Doug said.

“I had no contact with [Johnny] until he texted me after that went out and said, ‘Hey, thanks for being honest.’ He didn’t know that was going out. I was a little petrified because it kind of made him look like a bi—. ‘Cause he was kind of a bi—,” Doug added.

Amber Heard Is Suing Johnny Depp's Friend for Making Blackmail Claim

Amber Heard is suing comedian Doug Stanhope, the friend of Johnny Depp who accused her of blackmailing her husband and lying about the alleged domestic abuse.

The 30-year-old actress is asking for the “maximum possible jury award” and plans to donate whatever she receives to an Arizona-based domestic violence charity.

In the court filing (via People), Amber claims that Doug “orchestrated a plot to write an article, which was published at TheWrap.com, which falsely accuses plaintiff Amber Heard of ‘blackmail’ and other criminal behavior towards her husband, Johnny Depp, from whom she is seeking a divorce.”

Amber says that the claims made by Doug are “completely false and defamatory” and that “tremendous harm” was caused by his statement.

Here is what Amber‘s lawyer said in a statement: “The Complaint alleges that Stanhope is a close friend of Johnny Depp and, as part of a coordinated effort, wrote a highly defamatory article about Ms. Heard, filled with completely false, highly defamatory and very hurtful statements. Ms. Heard seeks the maximum possible jury award.”

Amber Heard's Lawyer Denies Claim She's Blackmailing Johnny Depp

Amber Heard‘s lawyer is speaking out to deny the allegations that she is blackmailing her estranged husband Johnny Depp.

Doug Stanhope, a comedian who is one of Johnny‘s friends, wrote a guest column for TheWrap in which he claims that Amber was planning on leaving the actor and threatened “to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms.”

Amber‘s lawyer Peter Sample says the “allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false.” The claim that she is blackmailing Johnny “has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.”

The lawyer also told TheWrap that the claims against Amber are defamatory and “outrageous.”

Johnny Depp Being Blackmailed By Amber Heard, Pal Claims

Johnny Depp‘s friend, comedian Doug Stanhope, claims that the actor’s estranged wife Amber Heard is blackmailing him.

The comic wrote a guest article for TheWrap and says that he was at Johnny‘s house on the day of the alleged assault last weekend.

“We assumed initially that his dour mood was because of his mother’s death the day before. But he opened up in the most vulnerable of ways that it was not only his mother, but that Amber was now going to leave him, threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms,” Doug wrote. “Blackmail is what I would imagine other people might put it, including the manner in which he is now being vilified.”

“I knew it was bulls”,” Doug said about Amber‘s claim that she was assaulted by her husband. “We’d watched it build like this since before they were married. We’d watched her manipulate and f” with him for years. We didn’t say a word. To each other, yes, but never to him… My girlfriend, Bingo, and I have known Johnny Depp for a few years now. We have watched Amber Heard f” with him at his weakest – or watched him at his weakest from being f”ed with – for the entire time we’ve known him.”

Doug says that he and other friends of Johnny would not speak up throughout their marriage, but now he doesn’t care if he is cut out of friend’s life for talking publicly.

“Abusing women is bulls”. Johnny doesn’t abuse anyone. And he told me that day ahead of time that she’d pull some kind of s” like this. Johnny Depp got used, manipulated, set up and made to look like an a”hole. And he saw it coming and didn’t or couldn’t do anything to stop it,” Doug said. “He may never talk to me again for saying it but I’d never forgive myself for not coming to his defense out of fear or ego. I stand up for my friends and I tell the f”ing truth.”
