Gary Oldman is joined by by wife Gisele Schmidt as they arrive at the Great British Film Reception on Friday night (March 2) at the Brtish Residence in Los Angeles.

The 59-year-old actor stopped by the event honoring the British nominees of the 2018 Oscars alongside Tom Payne, Jane Seymour, Edgar Wright, Andy Serkis, and Camilla Luddington.

At the event, Gary revealed he almost didn’t take on his Oscar-nominated role of Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour!

Gary shared with Page Six that he nearly turned down the role because Churchill had been played so many times before, but after learning more about the former Prime Minister, he decided to take the role.

“What interested me was to show a side of him that was dynamic and energetic and funny — he wasn’t the curmudgeon we all assumed he was,” Gary said. “You imagine him to be grumpy all the time, and I am sure he sometimes was, but other times he looked like a baby. There was this boyish sweetness to him.”

Some other actors that appeared at the event to honor the best of editing in film, television, and documentaries included Get Out‘s Betty Gabriel, The Goldbergs‘ Sam Lerner, and the event’s host Tichina Arnold.

Among the filmmakers in attendance were Baby Driver‘s Edgar Wright, Blade Runner 2049‘s Denis Villeneuve, and Breaking Bad‘s Vince Gilligan.

Jessica Chastain and Sally Hawkins are all smiles while hitting the red carpet at the 2018 Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society Award Ceremony held at Taglyan Complex on Wednesday (January 10) in Los Angeles.

The Molly’s Game actress and Sally, 41, were joined at the event by Gary Oldman, Baby Driver director Edgar Wright, Patrick Stewart, and Sally‘s Shape of Water co-stars Doug Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg, and director Guillermo del Toro.

Shape of Water was the big winner of the night with four wins overall, including Best Director, Best Actress for Sally and Best Score for Alexandre Desplat.

Gary took home Best Actor for Darkest Hour, Patrick and Michael were tied for Best Supporting Actor, and Jessica was honored with the Trailblazer Award.

Ansel Elgort had so much fun going undercover at a Baby Driver screening in Brazil!

The 23-year-old actor went unnoticed in the theater – at first – while wearing a hoodie on Monday (July 24) in Sao Paulo.

He was joined by director Edgar Wright.

“So fun!!! Surprising this theatre in Brazil showing a screening of #BabyDriver!!!” Ansel captioned the Instagram video below. “I sat in the audience in this hoodie, nobody knew it was me :) then the woman on the mic asked for a volunteer to pick a name out of a hat that would get a special meet and greet with ‘Ansel‘ and I raised my hand. To come pick a winner. Unfortunately she yelled my name before I made it down to surprise everyone but it was still epic!”

“After this we all took pics together!” he added. “Instead of one winner there were 200! Loved meeting you guys and watching the movie w you too! I was so nervous somebody would notice me and distract everyone watching the movie for the first time! Can’t wait for everyone to see Baby Driver :).”

Baby Driver debuted strong at the box office over the weekend, so it’s no wonder Edgar Wright has already been approached about writing a sequel.

The 43-year-old director has revealed that Sony recently asked him if he would be interested.

“The studio have asked me to think about writing a sequel and it is one of the ones that I might do a sequel to because I think there’s somewhere more to go with it in terms of the characters,” Edgar said during an interview with Empire‘s film podcast.

“Baby has got to a new place,” he added. “Most sequels you have to contrive something so they go back to square one, unless there’s somewhere deeper for them to go. I think with Baby Driver there’s more that you can do in that realm, and I sort of have an idea that if you did another [film], you would subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he’s not the apprentice anymore.”

Baby Driver 2 would mark the first time Edgar has followed up any of his movies with a sequel.

The new film Baby Driver officially hits theaters on Wednesday (June 28) and fans will want to know if they should stay in their seats for a post-credits scene after the movie ends.

We caught an early screening of the film and can confirm that there is nothing after the end credits!

Edgar Wright‘s new action-packed flick starring Ansel Elgort as the title character has been receiving rave reviews and has a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment.

Ansel stars alongside Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Hamm, Eiza Gonzalez, Jon Bernthal, and Jamie Foxx in the movie.

Here is the film’s synopsis: A talented, young getaway driver (Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Also in attendance was Zosia Mamet and her partner Evan Jonigkeit, Devon Windsor, Difficult People‘s Julie Klausner, Stranger Things star David Harbour, SNL‘s Rachel Dratch, Rough Night‘s Ryan Cooper and Gabriel-Kane Day-Lewis.

The after party was at The Crown, the new rooftop of the (just opened) Hotel 50 Bowery.
