Jamie Lee Curtis Reacts to 'True Lies' Daughter Eliza Dushku's Sexual Molestation Reveal

Eliza Dushku bravely came forward to allege that she was sexually molested by a stunt coordinator on the set of True Lies when she was just 12 years old.

Now, her mom on the film, Jamie Lee Curtis, spoke out about the allegations in an op-ed piece for the Huffington Post.

“She had shared that story with me privately a few years ago. I was shocked and saddened then and still am today,” Jamie Lee wrote. “We have all started to awaken to the fact that the terrible abuses now commonplace in daily news reports have been going on for a very long time. Unconscionably, those reports frequently come along with claims by the perpetrators that, as adults, those perpetrated against had some part in it….Eliza‘s story has now awakened us from our denial slumber to a new, horrific reality. The abuse of children.”

“It is a complicated relationship working with children as they are being asked to do adult work with you in an adult field, surrounded by hundreds of adults who want them to perform for them, and yet are still inherently children,” Jamie Lee continued. “I have wrestled with my role as a mentor, colleague, surrogate, and friend, and each relationship is individual and unique. Are we really friends? Are we work mates? Children are not mature enough to recognize that subtle difference.”

Jamie Lee added, “The truth will set us all free. Hopefully that freedom will bring a new ability to call out abuse and, when that abuse occurs, to have swift and consistent action, so that no one again will have to wait 25 years for their truth to be heard.”

James Cameron Praises 'Brave' Eliza Dushku for Coming Forward with Sexual Assault Allegations

James Cameron is breaking his silence on Eliza Dushku‘s claims that True Lies stunt coordinator Joel Kramer sexually assaulted her when she was 12-years-old.

While attending the 2018 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour on Saturday (January 13), the 63-year-old director and writer of True Lies called the 37-year-old actress “brave” for coming forward with her story.

“I haven’t given a lot of thought to this specific situation because I just heard about. Obviously, Eliza is very brave for speaking up,” James said. “I think all the women are that are speaking up and calling for a reckoning now. I think this has been endemic throughout human systems, not just Hollywood.”

Earlier today, Eliza shared an open letter, recounting how Joel molested her on set of the 1994 movie. Joel recently slammed the allegations, calling them “atrocious lies.”

“But had I known about it, there would’ve been no mercy,” James continued. “Now, especially that I have daughters, there’s really no mercy.”

Eliza Dushku's Alleged Abuser Responds to Allegations, Calls Them 'Atrocious Lies'

Joel Kramer, the True Lies stunt coordinator who Eliza Dushku has accused of sexually assaulting her at the age of 12, is speaking out to deny the accusations made against him.

Kramer told THR that the allegations are “atrocious lies” and that he is already getting death threats because of them. He says he did spend time with Eliza as she stated in her story, but that he was never alone with her.

“We took care of her like she was our kid,” he said. “I don’t ever remember being alone with her. ‘Luring’ her up to my hotel room, is just crazy.”

Kramer claims that Eliza had a crush on him, something he says an assistant on set alerted him to. He said, “I don’t know what goes through a young girl’s mind, I don’t know what goes through anyone’s mind. Something set her off somewhere.”

While Kramer plans on talking to a lawyer, he will not countersue if this goes to court. “I’m not even angry, I’m just so hurt,” he said. “I’m probably going to have to talk to an attorney at some point, that will cost me thousands of dollars to get to the bottom of this, but why would I want to countersue and ruin her life? It’s a lose-lose for everybody.”

Eliza Dushku Accuses 'True Lies' Stunt Coordinator of Molesting Her at Age 12

Eliza Dushku is speaking out in an open letter with allegations of being sexually assaulted by True Lies stunt coordinator Joel Kramer when she was just 12-years-old.

The actress, now 37, played the role of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s daughter in the 1994 movie.

“When I was 12 years old, while filming True Lies, I was sexually molested by Joel Kramer, one of Hollywood’s leading stunt coordinators,” Eliza began her open letter. “Ever since, I have struggled with how and when to disclose this, if ever. At the time, I shared what happened to me with my parents, two adult friends and one of my older brothers. No one seemed ready to confront this taboo subject then, nor was I.”

“I am grateful to the women and men who have gone before me in recent months. The ever-growing list of sexual abuse and harassment victims who have spoken out with their truths have finally given me the ability to speak out. It has been indescribably exhausting, bottling this up inside me for all of these years,” she continued.

Eliza went on to describe in detail what happened when Kramer, who was 36 at the time, lured her to his hotel room and rubbed all over her with his naked body. She also alleges that after an adult friend of hers confronted him, that she was injured on a stunt he oversaw the next day.

Eliza says that she gained the conviction to stand up to her abusers from all the fans who tell her that her characters give them strength as well.

Most recently, Kramer has worked as the stunt coordinator on films like Blade Runner 2049, The Conjuring 2, and the television series Westworld and Star Trek: Discovery.

“Something a lot of people don’t know about me is that I am an alcoholic and I was a drug addict for a lot of years,” Eliza said. “You hear people say ‘I am that’ because I am that and I’m always going to be that but the difference between me and an alcoholic or a drug addict that still drinks and does drugs is that I am sober.”

“I loved the first time I took a drug because I loved how it made me feel, I loved the way it made me not feel and I didn’t have to feel. It was fun and I loved it until it wasn’t,” Eliza added. “Drugs didn’t love me, they didn’t love my family. They definitely didn’t love my friends that died, I have a lot of friends that are dead.”
