Marlee Matlin has some fun with her co-stars while posing at the CODA photo call held at The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills on Friday (July 30) in West Hollywood, Calif.
Emilia Jones, Daniel Durant and Troy Kotsur all joined Marlee, along with director and writer Sian Heder at the press event.
In a recent interview, Emilia opened up about diving deep into ASL lessons to portray the child of deaf adults.
“The minute I got the part, I went into ASL training and singing lessons. I trained for eight months,” she told Vogue. “They found me an amazing deaf coach who taught me ASL, but also about deaf culture and the nuances.”
Emilia added that she also had an ASL director in Anne Tomasetti who “really pushed me and I love her for it. Sometimes things would change on the day, as they do on any other project, and she’d never say, ‘Keep yours the same.’ She’d be like, ‘You change too,’ and we’d be signing over the craft table.”
“There was also improvisation on set. As time went on, I became more confident and because I wasn’t allowed to use an interpreter on set—I had to sign and keep up with conversations—that helped me improvise,” she also shared.
CODA is set to release domestically on August 13.
FYI: Emilia is wearing Louis Vuitton.
