Gerry Goffin Dead - Carole King's Ex-Husband & Writing Partner Dies at 75

Gerry Goffin, the ex-husband and songwriter partner of Carole King, has died at the age of 75.

The lyricist passed away in his home in Los Angeles, his wife Michelle Goffin confirmed to the Associated Press.

Gerry and Carole got married back in 1959 when they were just teenagers and wrote more than fifty top 40 hits together including “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” for The Shirelles, “Some Kind of Wonderful” for The Drifters, and many more. They got divorced in 1968, but he kept writing and penned hits such as “Savin’ All My Love for You” for Whitney Houston.

Gerry was a good man with a dynamic force, whose words and creative influence will resonate for generations to come,” Carole said in a statement. “His legacy to me is our two daughters, four grandchildren, and our songs that have touched millions and millions of people, as well as a lifelong friendship.”

Carole and Gerry are the subjects of the new Broadway show Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which is currently playing in New York to sell out audiences.
