Glenn Close Zoomed Three Times A Week With Language Coach To Learn Farsi For 'Tehran'

Glenn Close wows in a bright blue suit at the premiere of her Apple TV+ series, Tehran, held at The Robin Williams Center on Wednesday (May 4) in New York City.

The 75-year-old actress met up with her co-stars Niv Sultan, Shila Ommi, Arash Marand, Shervin Alenabi and Shaun Toub on the red carpet, ahead of the second season premiere.

Glenn joined the series for the new season, and had to learn Farsi for her role, Marjan Montazeri, a British agent living in Tehran.

“It just — it was a challenge and territory I never explored before,” she shared with ET at the event.

Glenn added that learning the language “was very challenging. It has a different sentence structure. It’s more like German, with the verb at the end. You use your mouth differently. It has certain sounds that we don’t have in English. But I had a phenomenal coach in Anna Bayat, who worked with me on Zoom three times a week.”

She continued, “It’s just a lot of — you start with one word at a time, then sentences, then repetition, repetition, and then you have to learn the proper intonation, and then you have to say it faster than you think you ever can say it.”

Tehran centers on Tamar (Sultan), an Israeli agent and computer hacker born in Iran but raised in Israel, is tasked with infiltrating an electric company to cut power to Iranian air defenses.

Thereby an Israeli air attack against Iran’s nuclear power plant will be undetected. The mission goes terribly wrong and ends in a race against time.

Tehran is back on May 6 on Apple TV+.

Just recently, Glenn made her Met Gala debut!
