Pete Davidson Told Glenn Close He Thought She Was British During Their Actors on Actors Interview

Pete Davidson and Glenn Close are opening up all about their careers in Variety‘s latest Actors on Actors interview.

The two stars chatted with each other about their iconic roles, comedy and the fact that Pete was under the impression she was British.

“You’re so elegant and wonderful, I always thought you were British,” Pete, 27, shared with her.

In truth, Glenn grew up in Connecticut as “a little tomboy in the countryside.”

While talking about some of her most iconic roles, Glenn opened up about her time playing Cruella de Vil in the live action version of 101 Dalmatians.

“I asked to get some of the original dialogue from the animated feature because she said, ‘Chloroform them! Drown them!’ It’s really horrible stuff. I realized the meaner she was, the better she was. I loved that character,” Glenn shared.

Pete added, “Cruella is amazing. You were scary hysterical…Did you take any of Cruella’s wardrobe? It was so fabulous.”

“I got in my contract that I got to keep all my costumes that I wore in the movie,” Glenn says. “Then when they found out how expensive they were, they were unhappy that it was in my contract. They wanted to make another copy, another set, for me. I said no.”

Amy Adams Responds to 'Hillbilly Elegy' Criticism & Negative Reviews Surrounding the Film

Netflix’s Hillbilly Elegy, starring Amy Adams and Glenn Close and directed by Ron Howard, is being critically panned and the stars are now reacting to the movie’s reviews.

Many of the criticisms of the movie are from how the film portrays its Appalachian setting and characters in that region of the country.

One review from NME states that the movie “betrays the very people it’s trying to celebrate” by “failing to acknowledge the legitimate problems they face.”

When asked about the movie’s reviews by NME, Amy responded, “I think the themes of this movie are very universal. Whether it be generational trauma, whether it be just examining where we come from to understand where we’re going and who we are. I think the universality of the themes of the movie far transcend politics.”

Glenn added that the movie “wasn’t made with politics in mind, it was made with Ron’s intent. I think he succeeded magnificently to tell the story of a very specific family.”

“I never would presume to say what critics should or shouldn’t do,” Amy said when asked if critics should have put politics aside when watching the movie. “Everybody has a voice and can use it how they choose to use it.”

The film currently has a 26% on Rotten Tomatoes and you can check out the trailer here.

Glenn Close Reveals the One Scene She Refused to Do in 'Air Force One'

Glenn Close is looking back on her role in Air Force One.

During a new interview with Vanity Fair, the 73-year-old actress revealed there was one scene written for her character Vice President Kathryn Bennett in the 1997 political action thriller that she refused to do.

In the movie, President James Marshall (Harrison Ford), his family, and some staff are aboard Air Force One when the plane is taken over by terrorists. Glenn‘s character is in Washington, D.C. overseeing the situation.

Glenn revealed that at one point, her character was supposed to start crying while sitting down with staff, but she refused to do it because she didn’t want Bennett to appear weak.

“One thing I remember, they had a scene around that table where she broke down crying,” Glenn explained. “And I said, ‘I will not do that. I don’t think that would happen. Not my vice president. My vice president would not break down into tears. She would step up to the challenge.’ So they changed it.”

Just recently, Glenn admitted that she was very surprised when this actress won an Oscar.

During the discussion, she talked about her feelings about awards shows, as well as comparing different performances, and she used Gwyneth Paltrow‘s 1999 Best Actress win for Shakespeare in Love as an example of one that didn’t “make sense” to her.

“I honestly feel that to be nominated by your peers is about as good as it gets. And then, I’ve never understood how you could honestly compare performances, you know? I remember the year Gwyneth Paltrow won over that incredible actress who was in Central Station and I thought, ‘What?’ It doesn’t make sense,” she explained.

“So I think who wins has a lot of things to do with how things have been, you know, whether it has traction or whatever. Publicity, how much money did they have to put it out in front of everybody’s sight. I have to be philosophical about it, if I was upset about it,” she continued.

“I’m very proud of the times that my peers have felt that my performance was worthy of attention,” she added.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently posted a very emotional picture with her kids.
