Celebrities are speaking out to remember the late Godfrey Gao after his untimely death on the set of a reality show in China.

Godfrey, who was best known to American audiences for starring in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, was only 35 when he passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday (November 27).

Stars like Henry Golding, Harry Shum Jr., Indya Moore, and others have taken to social media to share their condolences.

Henry wrote on Instagram, “Very sad to hear of the passing of @godfreygao, a huge loss to the community. He inspired so many to follow in his footsteps in film and entertainment, myself included. Condolences to his family and loved ones x.”

More details are coming to light in the shocking death of Taiwanese-Canadian actor and model Godfrey Gao.

The Mortal Instruments star passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday (November 27) while filming a reality show in China.

Godfrey collapsed on set while participating in a physical challenge and multiple reports state that he suffered a heart attack, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.

The show Chase Me is known for pushing contestants to extreme physical limits and now people in China are expressing their issues with the television industry there. Reports say that Godfrey “suddenly fell down to the ground while running” during his guest appearance on the show.

Godfrey Gao is being remembered by his co-stars after his shocking death.

Jamie Campbell Bower took to Instagram on to mourn the death of his The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones co-star.

“our friend. Heartbroken,” Jamie captioned the below photo.

Godfrey and Jamie starred in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which was released in 2013.

It was recently reported that Godfrey had suddenly died at the young age of 35 after he collapsed while filming the variety show Chase Me in China.

Model and actor Godfrey Gao has sadly passed away at the young age of 35.

The Taiwanese-Canadian entertainer died in the early morning hours of Wednesday (November 27) while filming the variety show Chase Me in China.

Godfrey collapsed on set and first responders attempted to save his life for three hours, according to his management Jetsta. Early reports say that he suffered a heart attack.

“In the early hours of Nov. 27, our beloved Godfrey collapsed while filming on set. Following three hours of rescue efforts, he unfortunately left us. We are very shocked and saddened and even until now find it impossible to accept,” his team wrote in a statement (via WWD).

“Thank you media friends and every fan of Godfrey’s for their concern. His management and team were present and his family were urgently rushed to the location,” the statement continued. “Please respect Godfrey’s family in this time of sorrow and refrain from disturbing them. We will accompany Godfrey’s family to handle discreet funeral arrangements. Thank you, everyone.”

Godfrey was best known to American audiences for his work in the 2013 film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and 2017′s The Jade Pendant. He rose to fame on the Chinese television series Remembering Lichuan and he was the first Asian model cast by Louis Vuitton back in 2011.

Lily Collins gets together with co-star Jamie Campbell Bower at the premiere of their latest film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones held at the Auditorio Nacional on Tuesday (August 27) in Mexico City, Mexico.

The 24-year-old stars of the film were joined at the event by their co-stars Kevin Zegers and Godfrey Gao.
