Prince Harry Gives a Shout Out to Greta Thunberg at OnSide Awards in Final Royal Event Before Holiday Break

This is Harry‘s last official engagement before taking a break from royal duties to enjoy time with wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (AKA Meghan Markle) and their child, Archie, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

During the event, he took to the stage to deliver a speech to the crowd full of young people at the awards ceremony, which recognizes those who have helped their local communities and have overcome challenges.

During the speech, he gave a shout-out to young climate change activist Greta Thunberg.

“OnSide is an organization that’s still young, but as everybody here knows, you should never underestimate the power and influence of youth. When Greta started her climate change protest she was just 15 years old—one voice, with just one placard, sitting on her own outside the Swedish parliament. Many people – actually, I should say, many adults – dismissed her. Yet today, millions upon millions of young people have joined her fight. She may have been just one person at the beginning, but she had a belief, a mission, and a desire to do something not just for herself but for everyone, and now—the whole world is paying attention,” he said.

“Whatever your dream—every country, every community, every school, every friendship group, every family needs their own Greta—someone who can lead the way, someone who is prepared to stand up for what they believe, and show how much they care for the people in their lives and the community around them,” he went on to say.

He also posed with award recipients backstage at the event after presenting the Health and Wellbeing Award onstage.

Charlize Theron & More Powerful Women Are Honored with 'Glamour' Covers

Charlize Theron is among the Women of the Year honorees who are being celebrated with Glamour covers!

The Oscar-winning actress joins fellow actress Yara Shahidi, director Ava DuVernay, soccer star Megan Rapinoe, “The Handmaid’s Tale” author Margaret Atwood, designer Tory Burch, environmental activist Greta Thunberg, and the Women of the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).

Charlize‘s full story is live now and the rest of the features will go live throughout the week. Here’s what the Bombshell actress had to share with the mag:

On how she was scared to do Bombshell: “I think I was scared of it… A lot of projects I’ve been involved in are not necessarily projects where everybody has gone, ‘Yeah, this is going to be great, you should do this!’” she says, smiling. “It tends to be projects where people are like, ‘I don’t know about this Monster movie. Really?’ ”

On working with young people through her charity: “I love working with young people because when I look at all of the issues we have faced in our history, it’s always young people who have the ‘f–k you’ to not give up. That’s where change comes from—it doesn’t come from old politicians. It’s always young people.”

On appreciating what she has: “I always had an awareness that it could end, it could literally end tomorrow. Just have the moment because the moment might never come again. I tell my kids that… I don’t think you’re ever too young to know the value of what you have right now.”

Meghan Markle Is the First-Ever Guest Editor of British Vogue's September Issue!

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (AKA Meghan Markle) is taking on a new role – as the guest editor of British Vogue‘s highly coveted September issue, out on newsstands on August 2.

Editor-in-chief Edward Enninful revealed that the Duchess is the first person to guest-edit the September Issue of British Vogue.

“To have the country’s most influential beacon of change guest edit British Vogue at this time has been an honour, a pleasure and a wonderful surprise. As you will see from her selections throughout this magazine, she is also willing to wade into more complex and nuanced areas, whether they concern female empowerment, mental health, race or privilege. From the very beginning, we talked about the cover – whether she would be on it or not. In the end, she felt that it would be in some ways a ‘boastful’ thing to do for this particular project. She wanted, instead, to focus on the women she admires,” he explained.

The women Meghan selected to appear on the cover are: Adwoa Aboah, Adut Akech, Ramla Ali, Jacinda Ardern, Sinead Burke, Gemma Chan, Laverne Cox, Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek Pinault, Francesca Hayward, Jameela Jamil, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Yara Shahidi, Greta Thunberg, Christy Turlington Burns – and you, the reader, represented by a mirror.

“Guest Editing the September issue of British Vogue has been rewarding, educational and inspiring. To deep dive into this process, working quietly behind the scenes for so many months, I am happy to now be able to share what we have created. A huge thanks to all of the friends who supported me in this endeavour, lending their time and energy to help within these pages and on the cover. Thank you for saying ‘Yes!’- and to Edward, thank you for this wonderful opportunity,” Meghan said on her Instagram.
