Pregnant Mandy Moore Gets Candid About Preparing for Motherhood

Mandy Moore is ready to be a mom!

The 36-year-old This Is Us actress opened up about her pregnancy with her first child with husband Taylor Goldsmith to Hoda Kotb on Today.

During the chat, she revealed how playing her character Rebecca Pearson in her hit series actually influenced her approach to becoming a mom.

“Playing a matriarch of a family for the last five years and getting to see children at various different chapters and stages, I feel like I’m as pseudo-prepared as I can be. I’ve had babies and toddlers and adult children [on the show], so I’ve gotten a pretty good taste and lay of the land,” she explained.

She also welcomed “unsolicited advice” from parents: “I will welcome anything because I know nothing. I’m like a sponge — I wanna soak it all up.”

Mandy also talked about hiding her baby bump on set.

“I’m sure you’ll see Rebecca carrying a lot of laundry baskets and oversized purses and God knows what for the next couple of months! I’ve also heard that they can go in and digitally change things, if need be, but I’m guessing it’ll be a lot … less full-body [shots].”

She also gushed about her husband, and the idea of family traditions.

“My husband is a musician, so the idea of being able to have music be this through line in [the baby's] life is really exciting. To be able to bring him on the road with us is an exciting prospect. And holidays — we’re at the beginning of the best season of the year, and I think about traditions and the way we’re gonna be a family together. It’s so exciting.”

The hosts of The Today Show are paying tribute to the musicals of Broadway with their Halloween costumes this year!

The show’s hosts dressed up on Friday (October 30) at their studio at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb went as Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked, Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dryer were Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart from Chicago, Jenna Bush Hager was Grizabella from Cats, and Craig Melvin and Al Roker were Alexander Hamilton and King George III from Hamilton.

Sheinelle and Dylan did a fully choreographed routine to the “Hot Honey Rag” from Chicago while the other stars all lip-synced to songs from their musicals.

Broadway is shut down right now, so this was the perfect way to pay tribute to the shows of the Great White Way while we can’t see them live.

During her appearance, she spoke on going public with her breast cancer diagnosis years ago.

“It’s funny, sometimes it’s easy to share the good stuff but you don’t want to share the crummy stuff and having kids was a great joy for me and sharing that was effortless for me,” she explained.

“When I was sick at one point, when I was working at NBC with breast cancer, I was determined to put that deep in my pockets and not share that because I didn’t want to be that person. I remember distinctly meeting someone on a plane and he asked me why I was wearing a compression sleeve on the plane and I told him that I had cancer, but I said to him, ‘but I hope that’s not how you remember me.’ And he said, ‘What’s wrong with you? Having cancer is part of you. It’s like working at NBC or getting married or graduating college. Let me give you some advice and you can go to sleep: don’t hog your journey, it’s not just for you,’” she continued.

“I sat there in that moment with a complete stranger and realized I had just changed the path of my life. He said, ‘You can put your stuff deep in your pockets and take it to your grave or you can help someone. Those are your choices, A or B, choose.’ When he said that I was so struck by the fact that I wanted to hide the bad parts of my life and suddenly I felt lifted and lighter and I mentioned it at work when I had kept it a secret, I said it out loud, and all of a sudden I found it really was helping people. It shaped me. It didn’t define me, but you can still help people with that.”

Hoda has a totally great attitude about the possibility of having to postpone.

Hoda Kotb Breaks Down After Reporting on Coronavirus Impact with Drew Brees in New Orleans on 'Today' (Video)

Hoda Kotb broke down in tears this morning on Today.

One day after Drew Brees and wife Brittany announced their donation of $5 million to the state of Louisiana for COVID-19 relief, the New Orleans Saints quarterback called into the Today show on Friday (March 27) and chatted with Hoda, who worked at a news station in New Orleans for six years in the ’90s, about the impact the virus has had on the state.

“The state of Louisiana thrives on small businesses,” Drew, 41, said. “We’re a hospitality state, and so many people have been affected by this around the country but especially in New Orleans. So when Brittany and I think about one of New Orleans’ [residents’] basic needs, that is to make sure that they and their family are fed and they can continue to sustain. So that’s where we wanted to start.”

“a lot of things are contagious, including generosity. Our hope is that because you let us know you made this big, generous donation, I think other people look and say, ‘Hey, maybe I can help out, too,’” Hoda told Drew towards the end of the interview.

“Drew, we love ya,” Hoda Kotb finished up, pivoting to tell the audience there was “a lot more” ahead before she broke down in tears, overcome with emotion.

“I’m so sorry, Hon,” said co-host Savannah Guthrie, who has been hosting the show from home since last week. “Take a moment. It’s a lot.”
