The day before, the 28-year-old actress and her Smash co-star Jack Davenport shielded themselves from the downpour while waiting to film a scene in the Big Apple.

Katharine was joined on set by Debra Messing, who was seen walking under a huge umbrella to keep herself dry.

Debra Messing is a beauty in black on the red carpet at the 2013 Golden Globes held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 13) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 44-year-old actress is wearing the Donna Karan Resort 2013 strapless black silk organza hand ruched gown, Rupert Sanderson heels, Samira 13 earrings and bracelet, an Amrapali bracelet, and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.

Debra was joined on the red carpet by her Smash co-star Jack Davenport. The pair are at the show to support their series, which is nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

Earlier this month, Katharine donated $50,000 to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts through her McPhee Outreach foundation. Kat‘s charity has raised close to $250K and all proceeds go to The Salvation Army of Staten Island.

The series starring Katharine McPhee, Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Jack Davenport, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Krysta Rodriguez, and will feature new roles from Jennifer Hudson, Jesse L. Martin, Jeremy Jordan, and Sean Hayes.

Smash returns to NBC on Tuesday (February 5) at 9-10 p.m. ET and will continue in its regular time slot on Tuesday (February 12) at 10-11 p.m. ET.

Katharine McPhee chats with co-star Krysta Rodriguez while filming Smash on Wednesday (November 14) in New York City.

The 28-year-old actress did several takes chatting with Krysta‘s character during a stroll, while their co-star Jack Davenport looked on.

Katharine recently spoke to Hollywood Life about Jennifer Hudson‘s guest appearance on the upcoming season of Smash.

“It was really fun working with her,” Katharine shared. “No one can sing quite like her. She’s incredibly focused when she’s on set. She has a great work ethic, and I really respected that. She brings a great energy to the show.”
