Kanye West & His Choir Pull Out of Joel Osteen's Easter Service for Safety Reasons

There are often more than 100 people in the choir and TMZ reports that the members were planning on wearing masks and staying socially distant throughout the performance. Now, the outlet says that Kanye didn’t feel it would be safe for his choir to participate and “carry out his vision,” so they will no longer perform.

The Easter Service is set to feature Mariah Carey performing “Hero” and a speech from Tyler Perry.

During his appearance, he spoke about his spiritual journey.

“I know that God’s been calling me for a long time and the devil’s been distracting me for a long time,” he said to the crowd.

“When I was in my lowest points, God was there with me and sending me visions and inspiring me, and I remember sitting in the hospital at UCLA after having a mental breakdown and there’s documentation of me drawing a church and [wanting to] start a church in the middle of Calabasas.”

He said that despite “all of that arrogance and cockiness that y’all have seen from me,” God is now using him.

“Because every time I stand up, I feel that I’m standing up and drawing a line in the sand and saying, ‘I’m here in service to God and no weapon formed against me shall prosper.’ Jesus has won the victory. I told you about my arrogance and cockiness already. Now the greatest artist that God has ever created is now working for him,” he said smiling.

Kim Kardashian and daughter North West were also welcomed onstage during the ceremony, and he is expected to return to the church for a Sunday Service performance.

Tyler Perry Donates $1 Million to Hurricane Harvey Relief with Portion Going to Joel Osteen's Church

Tyler Perry is making a major donation to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

The 47-year-old actor and filmmaker announced on his Facebook on Thursday (August 31) that he will be donating $1 million to those effected by the hurricane in Texas, with $250,000 going to Joel Osteen‘s Lakewood Church.

“I know that there’s been some controversy about Joel Osteen and him not opening the doors of the church,” Tyler said in his Facebook video. “Joel and [wife] Victoria are amazing people – there’s no way that they would lock people out of the church or not let people seek shelter.”

Joel faced major criticism after it was reported that he had not opened his church to the victims of the hurricane.

The church has since been opened and is housing people displaced by the hurricane.
