Johnny Weir is all smiles at his book release party sponsored by Barefoot Bubbly at 230 Fifth on Tuesday (January 11) in New York City.

The 26-year-old figure skater proudly showed off his new book Welcome to My World and is also celebrating the release of his new single, Dirty Love.

In the book, Johnny reveals he’s gay and discusses why he didn’t come out earlier.

“There was a lot in the book that I had to take out…because of people that would sue me and stuff like that,” he told NBC. “If I have the opportunity to write a second book, there will be completely new stories that nobody’s heard yet. There’s lots of dirt that I wanted to tell that I wasn’t able to because I’m still too close to the skating world.”

Johnny Weir is revealing some big news in his upcoming memoir Welcome to My World, which hits stores on Tuesday (January 11).

“In a sexual way, I’m gay, but I would marry a woman tomorrow if it struck me,” the 26-year-old figure skating champ said in an excerpt to People. “I don’t think sex and relationships necessarily have to go together.”

“With people killing themselves and being scared into the closet, I hope that even just one person can gain strength from my story,” he added.

Johnny also discusses getting called names in middle school, a secret affair he had with another male skater he only refers to as “Alex,” and why he didn’t come out earlier.

“A lot of the gays got downright angry about my silence. But pressure is the last thing that would make me want to ‘join’ a community.’” he said.

The 25-year-old Olympic figure skater and Chaz Bono took to the stage and welcomed the 1000 young adults in attendance. LGBT youth and allies from local universities and high schools were invited to watch a live feed of the show and celebrate at a youth-only after party. Johnny, Adam Lambert and the cast of Glee all stopped by to meet the LGBT youth in attendance.

“There are so many beautiful people here tonight,” Johnny said. “It’s so wonderful that everyone comes together to celebrate life and celebrate the differences that make us all unique.”

Yesterday, Johnny tweeted, “I’m now following @adamlambert because he yelled at me for not following! You rocked tonight darling.” (Adam performed at the GLAAD Awards.)

Johnny Weir attends the “Skating with the Stars” benefit gala held at Wolman Rink on Monday (April 5) in New York City.

The 25-year-old Olympic figure skater, who carried a Balenciaga bag, helped benefit the non-profit organization Figure Skating in Harlem which provides girls with skating opportunities.

Earlier in the month, Johnny also attended “Ice Dreams” in Illinois. The event, which was hosted by Dorothy Hamill, aims to fulfill dreams by pairing up young ice skaters with famous Olympians.

Johnny Weir makes a surprise appearance at the 25th Film Independent’s Spirit Awards held at the Nokia Event Deck at L.A. live on Friday (March 5) in Los Angeles.

Earlier in the week, the 25-year-old American figure skater recently chatted with Access Hollywood on whether he would do Dancing With The Stars in the future.

“I’d love to learn how to foxtrot and cha cha,” Johnny told Billy Bush. “Believe it or not, I have terrible dancing skills. I can do everything on the ice, but as soon as you put me on the ground, I’m that person that falls down walking off a curb.”

Johnny Weir keeps warm in a Fendi scarf and some furry accessories as he shops up a storm at Columbus Circle in New York City on Monday night (March 1).

Let’s hope he adopted his on-ice faux fur decision off the ice!

Last week in Vancouver, Weir placed a somewhat disappointing 6th in the men’s figure skating competition of the 2010 Winter Olympics. “There are people that judge me that are several generations older than me,” he lamented on Live with Regis & Kelly. “I can’t always please those people because I am very out there for the average skating judge. What I was so happy with at the Olympics was the way I skated. All that hard work [gave me] that moment when I could feel the audience on that journey with me.”
