The new movie Champions hits theaters this weekend and we caught up with actor Kevin Iannucci to learn more about him!

Kevin, who is one of Hollywood’s rising stars with Down Syndrome, plays the role of Johnny in the new film. Champions, starring Woody Harrelson, centers around a former minor-league basketball coach who receives a court order to guide a team of players with intellectual disabilities.

You might recognize Kevin from his work in films like The Best of Enemies and Embattled.

  1. During the first few years of my life, while I was still learning to talk, I communicated with sign language.
  2. I always loved watching TV and movies growing up, but I didn’t see many characters like myself. I wanted to see all kinds of people represented, because there are all types of people in real life, so I started to re-write my own versions of the scripts for my favorite shows and movies to include myself as a character too!
  3. I was the manager of my high school varsity baseball team.
  4. I have a DVD collection of all my favorite movies and TV shows.
  5. I have a friend who was drafted in the first round by the Miami Marlins.

Woody Harrelson Brings His A-Game to 'Champions' Premiere with Impressive Basketball Skills

Woody Harrelson shows off his basketball skills on the red carpet of the premiere of his newest movie, Champions, held at AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Monday (February 27) in New York City.

The 61-year-old actor met up with co-stars Kaitlin Olson, Matt Cook, Madison Tevlin, Joshua Felder, and Kevin Iannucci at the event.

Ashton Gunning, James Day Keith, Matthew Von Der Ahe, Casey Metcalfe, Alex Hintz, and Tom Sinclair were also spotted.

Champions centers a former minor-league basketball coach receives a court order to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. Despite his doubts, he soon realizes that together they can go further than they ever imagined.

Directed by Bobby Farrelly, Champions will be out in select theaters on March 10.
