Tim Allen's 'Home Improvement' Character Will Guest Star on 'Last Man Standing'!

We’re seeing two Tim Allen‘s!

Fox recently released the sneak peek trailer for the upcoming ninth and final season of Last Man Standing.

At one point in the trailer, it is revealed that Tim‘s character Mike Baxter’s wife Vanessa (Nancy Travis) hires a repairman to redo their kitchen.

Mike then comes face to face with the repairman, who ends up being Tim‘s character Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor from the ABC sitcom Home Improvement!

Tim Taylor has definitely aged over the years, as he is now sporting gray hair on Last Man Standing.

If you forgot, Home Improvement ran on ABC from 1991 to 1999.

“I so appreciate the incredible support from our fans over this near decade of work,” Tim said in a statement when it was announced Last Man Standing was ending. “As we approach the ninth season, I just admire and feel grateful for all the hard work our wonderful cast and crew have done.”

Last Man Standing premieres on Sunday, January 3rd on Fox.

'Last Man Standing' to End with Season 9

It was just announced that Fox’s Last Man Standing will be ending with season 9.

“It has been an honor to be home for Tim Allen and ‘Last Man Standing,’” Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment, said in a statement. “Millions of families have long enjoyed the show because, perhaps, they see themselves in the Baxters. The loyal affection they’ve shown proves just how much this series has meant to them. On behalf of everyone at Fox, a big, big thank you to ‘Last Man Standing’s’ brilliant cast, led by Tim, Nancy and Hector, as well as its writers and crew, headed by showrunner Kevin Abbott. We’ll be rooting them on throughout the season as they conclude what has been an impressive run.”

“I’ve been one lucky dude to have been part of ‘Last Man Standing,’” Tim Allen, the show’s star said. “I so appreciate the incredible support from our fans over this near decade of work. As we approach the ninth season, I just admire and feel grateful for all the hard work our wonderful cast and crew have done. We had all considered to end the show after last season, but together with Fox, we decided to add a year so we could produce a full season to create the gentle and fun goodbye. I’m looking forward to a memorable and hilarious final season.”

The show was actually cancelled once before in 2017 when it aired on ABC and was then picked up by Fox for the final few seasons.

Fox Renews 'Last Man Standing' for Another Season!

Last Man Standing is coming back for more!

Fox is renewing the series, Variety reported on Thursday (April 18).

The show originally aired for six seasons on ABC. Fox then picked up the series, making this the second season on Fox and the eighth overall.

Last Man Standing stars Tim Allen as Mike Baxter, a happily married father of three daughters, who finds himself the odd man out as he tries to maintain his manliness in a home dominated by women. He rounds his life out with his job at a sports goods emporium and vlog, which he uses to express opinions that are much farther reaching than just the store’s items and often includes the environment, health care and politics.

“Hard to believe Last Man Standing hits 150 episodes this week and it gets better with another upcoming season at Fox. Great news for all of us who are creating these stories and working our pants off to make you all laugh. It’s another big high-five to the legions of loyal fans who have faithfully kept us front and center and huge on the radar. Thanks to our family at Fox, who continue to make us feel so at home. Man, if we keep this up, they might have to call our show: Last Man Unable to Stand,” Tim said.

Tim Allen's 'Last Man Standing' Will Not Be Revived by CMT

Fans of the Tim Allen series Last Man Standing who were hoping for the show to be picked up elsewhere following ABC’s cancellation will be upset by this news.

CMT was in serious talks to revive the series for multiple seasons, but the deal is off the table due to the cost issues, according to THR.

The network is already the home for the show’s syndicated repeats, so it would make sense for it to pick up the show for new episodes in the future.

If the deal went through, it would be the second time the network saved an ABC show from cancellation following Nashville.

'Last Man Standing' in Talks for Revival at CMT

Last Man Standing may be returning to TV!

CMT is in the preliminary talks to revive Tim Allen‘s canceled ABC comedy, THR reports.

According the reports, the network is in the very early stages of negotiating a price for the expensive show that was canceled by ABC back in May after six seasons.

It is also unclear how many episodes the potential revival season of Last Man Standing would get if it was to get picked up.

The comedy series wouldn’t be the first series that CMT picked up after it was axed by ABC. Last May, the network picked up Nashville for at least two more seasons.

'Last Man Standing' May Move to Another Network

Fans of Tim Allen‘s sitcom Last Man Standing can hold out some hope of the series getting another season as the show’s studio plans on shopping it to new networks.

20th Century Fox Television produces the comedy and studio presidents Jonnie Davis and Howard Kurtzman have revealed plans to seek a new home for the show, which was just canceled by ABC.

“That’s the one that’s really an open sore right now,” Davis told Variety. Kurtzman added, “We really were expecting a pickup. The fact that we didn’t get a pickup was a surprise and a disappointment. I think no one was more disappointed than Tim Allen, such a huge star with such a huge following.”

“We’re starting to explore that,” Kurtzman added when asked if they’d shop the show to new networks. “If it’s not going to go forward at ABC, of course Jonnie and I are hopeful that we can find another home for it.”
