“I’m still talking to [the team] weekly, I don’t know,” Hilary shared with Cosmo. “They were shooting and then everything was put on hold. And we’re just kind of figuring out if we can make this happen.”

Hilary was also asked how Lizzie would feel if Miranda and Paolo were to return in the reboot. As fans can remember in The Lizzie McGuire Movie Paolo tried to set Lizzie up for failure in order to embarrass European superstar Isabella.

“But there were plans for a lot of people to be in the show,” Hilary added. “So, um, I already know some of those things but I don’t know about Paolo. I think she’d probably be pretty mad to see him.”

Paolo was played by Yani Gellman in the movie.

'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Script Reveals Central Plot Points

Hilary Duff‘s Lizzie McGuire reboot at Disney+ was put on hold a few weeks ago, and we’re now learning the subject matter of Lizzie’s arc and why the studio may not have wanted to move forward.

After it was put on hold, Hilary spoke out and said, “I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30 year old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating. It’s important to me that just as her experience as a preteen / teenager navigating her life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable.”

Now, THR has gotten a hold of the script for the first episode and it “acknowledges the existence of sex with cheating as a central plot point.”

Another Disney+ show was just moved to Hulu due to the subject matter.

“Was incredibly excited to launch ‘Lizzie’ on D+ and my passion remains!” she wrote. “However, I feel a huge responsibility to honor the fans’ relationship with LIZZIE who, like me, grew up seeing themselves in her.”

“I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30 year old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating,” she continued. “It’s important to me that just as her experience as a preteen / teenager navigating her life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable.”

“It would be a dream if Disney would let us move the show to Hulu, if they were interested, and I could bring this beloved character to life again,” she added.

ICYMI, Hilary Duff recently confronted the paparazzi at her son’s football game and shared video.

Here's the Real Reason Why the 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Is on Hold (Report)

Lizzie McGuire‘s much-anticipated reboot series is still on hold, and there’s a reason why.

After Hilary spoke out on social media on Tuesday night (February 25), seemingly suggesting that her show faced a similar dilemma as the Love, Simon series that was moved to Hulu for not being reportedly “family friendly” enough for Disney+, a new report from Variety could confirm her frustration.

As we already knew, the show’s production halted in January due to the firing of showrunner Terri Minsky, who spoke out for the story.

“I am so proud of the two episodes we did. Hilary has a grasp of Lizzie McGuire at 30 that needs to be seen. It’s a wonderful thing to watch. I would love the show to exist, but ideally I would love it if it could be given that treatment of going to Hulu and doing the show that we were doing. That’s the part where I am completely in the dark. It’s important to me that this show was important to people. I felt like I wanted to do a show that was worthy of that kind of devotion,” she said.

Hilary did not comment on the story. However, “multiple sources close to the production tell Variety that the star is none too happy with the Mouse House for firing Minsky. The two women wanted to do a more adult version of Lizzie for the revival, while Disney wants a show that would appeal to kids and families, something more akin to the original series.”

The fate of the reboot is still unknown. In case you didn’t see it, here’s what Hilary said prior to this report…

Love, Simon TV Show Pulled From Disney+ as It’s Not ‘Family-Friendly,’ the headline reads.

“Sounds familiar…” she wrote, circling the headline.

If you didn’t know, Hilary‘s highly anticipated reboot of the Lizzie McGuire series was put on hold to be reworked in a new creative direction, suggesting that her show might have received similar feedback.
