Alex Pettyfer is opening up about why he wasn’t in the sequel to the hit movie Magic Mike and what his idea for another installment would be.

The 31-year-old actor, who is currently promoting his new movie Collection, was asked to reveal which one of his past roles he would like to revisit.

“I know which one I would revisit. I begged [director Steven] Soderbergh all the time. I would love to do The Kid from Magic Mike. The narrative of a lot of people … because I didn’t do Magic Mike XXL, oh, why was that? And obviously, people always dive into the gossip and it’s not really anything to do with the gossip,” Alex told ScreenRant.

A Magic Mike TV show is coming to HBO Max!

The streaming service has ordered an unscripted competition series based on the 2012 movie, per THR.

The series, which will be called The Real Magic Mike, will follow 10 men who have “lost their magic” as they compete for a cash prize and a chance to perform at the Magic Mike Live stage show in Las Vegas.

According to an official summary of the show, the contestants “will bare their souls and more as they evolve their bodies, learn to perform spectacular routines, and develop a new level of self-confidence. As they strip off their clothes, they will rid themselves of emotional baggage and regain their mojo, but only one will be the Real Magic Mike.”

The film’s original star Channing Tatum as well as director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Reid Carolin are set to produce the show.

HBO Max head of original content Sarah Aubrey said in a statement, “From box office hits to sold-out live shows, Magic Mike has proven to be a pop culture juggernaut that continues to delight people across the globe. We’re excited to work with Channing, Steven and the team behind Magic Mike Live to continue this successful franchise that celebrates self-confidence and sexiness both inside and out.”

A few months ago, a famous actor revealed that he had turned down a role in Magic Mike…

James Marsden revealed in an interview with James Corden that he had turned down a role in Channing Tatum‘s famous movie Magic Mike.

“I had fear I would be edited out of the movie,” the actor confessed. “Just all my lines would be cut out and I’d be an extra just rushing around in a g-string so I think it was a lack of courage on my part.”

He added that some of his friends and family, “they didn’t want to see me like that. I could have jumped in and had fun with that.”

Channing Tatum is all smiles as he hits the stage at the live final taping of Germany’s Next Top Model held at the ISS Dome on Thursday (May 23) in Duesseldorf, Germany.

The 39-year-old actor was accompanied onstage by his Magic Mike Live crew of dancers as they helped host Heidi Klum celebrate the live finale of the season.

It was recently announced Channing‘s acclaimed male revue, inspired by the hit Magic Mike film franchise, is set to thrill audiences in Berlin, Germany beginning this fall at the newly remodeled Club Theater at Potsdamer Platz on Nov. 26, 2019, with preview performances beginning November 16, 2019.

“When we launched our show in Las Vegas two years ago, we had no idea what was going to happen. It was surreal to see something we had been talking about for so long come to life,” Channing said in a statement (via BroadwayWorld). “The fact that people reacted the way they did and that over 300,000 people have come to see it still blows my mind. Then we decided to go to London and the show has absolutely killed it there. So, we started talking about where we wanted to go next. We wanted to go to a place where we could take the experience to a whole new level and from the first moment we arrived, we fell in love with Berlin and it became clear to us that this is where we had to launch our new production!”

Channing Tatum has just made a super exciting announcement…Magic Mike is coming to Broadway!

“This. Is. Happening. Get ready for Magic Mike… THE BROADWAY MUSICAL. World premiere at the @EmersonColonial Theatre in Boston this November. Tickets on sale TODAY. @magicmikebway #MagicMikeBway” Channing posted on his Instagram account and Twitter account.

Magic Mike the Musical opened in November in London, England.

No Broadway opening date has been set, but the show will have an out-of-town run in Boston beginning in November. Stay tuned as we find out more!
