Hoda Kotb's 'Today' Salary Reportedly Revealed, Earning $18 Million Less Than Matt Lauer

A new report has emerged suggesting Hoda Kotb is making way less than Matt Lauer made in the same position.

News broke yesterday that Hoda was replacing Lauer as the new Today show anchor after he was fired for sexual misconduct back in November. Apparently, Hoda is making $7 million a year (which is what current co-host Savannah Guthrie is reportedly making). Lauer allegedly made $25 million per year.

Hoda isn’t complaining about the money. She has landed the big job she always dreamed of, and most definitely deserves. Plus, Matt‘s salary reflected the long time he was on the show – 25 years. If things go well, Hoda could ask for more next time if she re-ups her contract. But the figures underline the huge wage disparity at NBC News,” a source told Page Six. NBC would not comment on the salary reports.

Hoda Kotb Reveals What Matt Lauer Said After She Landed 'Today' Show Anchor

Hoda Kotb was named the new Today show anchor, replacing Matt Lauer after his firing for sexual misconduct, and she revealed she heard from Matt after the news broke.

“I did hear from [Matt], yeah,” Hoda told ET. “He texted me and he said congratulations and some really nice words, and it meant the world when I saw the text pop up. My heart just went like, you know, it meant the world to see that.”

“You know, Matt is our good friend and continues to be, and I think for both of us, we’ve just been trying to navigate this time and honor our love and friendship with Matt, but also understand and try to learn more about these circumstances,” she continued. “So, it’s complicated when you are surprised by revelations, but you still care deeply for somebody who’s a friend. I think for all of us, we’ve just been trying to navigate through that, with straightforwardness and honesty and integrity.”

Hoda Kotb Named 'Today' Anchor After Matt Lauer's Firing

Hoda Kotb has been named the new co-anchor or the Today show, replacing disgraced former host Matt Lauer.

She will be joining Savannah Guthrie, who will continue to co-anchor.

Lauer was fired back in November after allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct arose.

“Over the past several weeks, Hoda has seamlessly stepped into the co-anchor role alongside Savannah, and the two have quickly hit the ground running,” Andy Lack, chairman of the NBC News Group, wrote to his staff in an email (via Dateline). “They have an undeniable connection with each other and most importantly, with viewers, a hallmark of Today.”

Former 'Today' Staffer Addie Zinone Details Affair with Matt Lauer & Reveals Why She Kept It Secret for 17 Years

Addie Zinone is coming forward about a sexual relationship she had with Matt Lauer while they both worked at NBC back in June of 2000.

It all started with a message she received from Lauer when she was working as a 24-year-old production assistant. The message read, “OK…NOW YOU’RE KILLING ME…YOU LOOK GREAT TODAY! A BIT TOUGH TO CONCENTRATE.”

About their first sexual encounter, she said, “I realize that sounds very naive and silly of me because I walked over there to do that. But in that moment, I didn’t have anybody to share my fears and confusion with except for him, because what am I going to say to people?”

Addie continued, “I know who I am at my core, I know the values I have, but of course you carry shame,” she continued. “Because again, he has a wife. Even now, I don’t want to pour salt on these wounds, and that’s a really scary thing. You do carry that your whole life….I want to guide the conversation away from that, own my part in it, but then also talk about this power dynamic in a workplace and how that balance really does affect your thinking, your ability to think logically, to be aware of what you’re doing and the impact it’s going to have the rest of your life. And also, if you do find yourself in the situation like I did, how can we empower young women in the future who find themselves in that situation to get themselves back, to make better decisions – to not make a mistake like I did.”

“He did it so effortlessly with me that I thought for sure that there had to be other women, but I didn’t know there would be other colleagues because I thought if he continued that behavior and what he did with me, there would have to be other people coming forward,” she said. “In 17 years, we would have heard about that, right? I did feel very alone and isolated and unsure of what to do with this, and just carried it because who wants to be that person?” Addie concluded.

Matt was fired from the Today show following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Denis Leary Thought Matt Lauer Was 'Creepy' from the Get-Go

Denis Leary has never been a fan of disgraced Today Show host Matt Lauer and he’s letting it be known!

The Rescue Me actor made an appearance on The Talk on Thursday (December 7) and opened up about his thoughts on Matt, who was fired for sexual misconduct.

“I thought he was a creepy, douchey guy from the get-go,” Denis said. “I stopped being interviewed by him on the Today show about 10 years ago because he was so creepy… I just got a weird, weaselly vibe from the guy, and I said to my publicist, I said, ‘I don’t want to be interviewed by him any longer.’”

“I do think people deserve second chances, but when you have a button under your desk to lock women into your office, you know what, screw you,” he added.
