Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and her hubby Mike McCuddy have welcomed their first child together – a baby boy named Greyson James Carroll McCuddy!

The 42-year-old singer/songwriter welcomed her baby boy into the world via gestational surrogate in Los Angeles on Thursday (January 31) at 1:01 p.m. He weighed in at 8 lbs., 10 oz. and measured 20¾ inches long, according to People.

Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi has some big news – she and her husband Mike McCuddy are expecting their first child via gestational surrogate in the coming weeks!

“We are eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth of our son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy,” the 42-year-old singer/songwriter told People.

Kara decided to use a surrogate after years of infertility and unsuccessful attempts at IVF.

“We made a personal decision to try with a surrogate. I asked someone we knew, a friend. And on the first try, it worked,” Kara added. “We’re praying for our surrogate, that she gets through this and that it’s as easy on her as it can possibly be, because she’s been a gem throughout the whole process. I’ve got two people on my mind: her and the baby. She’s given us this incredible gift.”
