Mindy Kaling Has Joined The Star-Studded Voice Cast Of 'Monsters at Work' on Disney Plus

Monsters at Work just added Mindy Kaling to the voice cast!

The 41-year-old actress and producer will star as Val Little, an enthusiastic member of the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (aka “MIFT”).

In addition to Mindy, Bonnie Hunt has also joined the upcoming animated series and will reprise her role as Ms. Flint, who was formerly in charge of training new Scarers at Monsters, Inc., but will now manage the department responsible for recruiting and training the funniest monsters to become Jokesters.

The series centers on Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), who is an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in.

After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.

Returning to the series are Billy Crystal and John Goodman as Mike and Sully, as well as Pixar good luck charm, John Ratzenberger as Yeti and Tylor’s dad, Bernard.

Jennifer Tilly will be back as Mike’s girlfriend Celia Mae and Bob Peterson as Roze, twin sister to his original Monsters, Inc.

Monsters at Work will also star Henry Winkler as Fritz, the scatterbrained boss; Lucas Neff as Duncan, an opportunistic plumber; and Alanna Ubach as Cutter, the officious rule follower, as well as Stephen Stanton as Smitty and Needleman, the bumbling custodial team at Monsters, Inc., and Aisha Tyler as Tylor’s mom, Millie Tuskmon.

The highly anticipated series will premiere on Friday, July 2 on Disney+.

Billy Crystal Updates Disney Fans On What's Happening With 'Monsters at Work' For Disney Plus

There hasn’t been much on the status of Monsters at Work, which was one of the first projects announced for Disney+.

Now, though, Billy Crystal is revealing that the animated series, which is a continuation of Monsters, Inc., is still moving forward.

“The show, time-wise, starts six months after Monsters, Inc. ended. So now, we’re on the Laugh Floor. We’ve created all of the new, young, great characters with some great voice actors, and John and I are reprising our parts,” Billy confirmed of when the show is set and also confirmed that he and John Goodman will return as Mike and Sully with Collider.

He continues, “It’s [been] 20 years [since the release of Monsters, Inc.] and that movie looked amazing 20 years ago. It’s coming up to the 20th anniversary…It’s fantastic looking, it’s hilarious, and we’re having a lot of fun doing it.”

Billy did not that because of the pandemic, production did slow, but has recently started up again.

“Yeah, we’ve done a bunch [of episodes]. We’ve been on a break because of the pandemic. But some I was able to do at home and some I was able to do in a very deserted studio out in Burbank,” he shares. “To be the only one on the lot was a little weird. But yeah, we’re progressing. I don’t know when they’re gonna start [being released] but I promise you they’re really good.”

Monsters at Work will center on a young monster Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), who is an eager and talented young mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT). Tylor dreams of working his way up to the factory Laugh Floor to become a jokester alongside his idols, Mike and Sully.

The series will also star Kelly Marie Tran, Alanna Ubach, Jennifer Tilly, (Pixar good luck charm) John Ratzenberger, and Bob Peterson.
