Nelly Furtado confirmed that she and her husband of 8 years Demacio Castellon have split.

The 38-year-old singer made an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women on Wednesday, where she spoke about the split.

“I am single now,” Nelly said. “Someone here needs to update my Wikipedia�”it’s not helping my dating life!”

The split happened in the summer of 2016. The couple married in 2008.

“I went through an emotionally difficult time last summer and I actually wrote and sung myself songs to get through it,” Nelly said. “I would sing to myself while I drove on these long drives and I thought to myself, ‘I’m so lucky that I can write songs because I can soothe myself with them.’”

Nelly currently has an album out called The Ride.

Nelly Furtado shines as she arrives at the Radio Regenbogen Awards on Friday (April 7) at Europa Park in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

The 38-year-old entertainer looked pretty in a metallic top and white pants for the event.

Also spotted arriving on the red carpet for the event was British performer Olly Murs.

During the awards show, Nelly took to the stage to perform songs off of her new album The Ride.

Nelly Furtado‘s brand new album titled The Ride has finally arrived, and you can stream it right here!

The 12-track LP features the singles “Phoenix” and “Cold Hard Truth,” as well as the 37-year-old Canadian singer’s lead single from the set, “Pipe Dreams.”

“‘The Ride’ is my hard-knocks album where I ride in a sin confessional and celebrate my mistakes,” Nelly told The FADER. “The equation is imperfection = beauty. This record for me is a palette cleanse, and a chance for me to showcase my songwriting with the help of John Congleton’s unique and modern production style.”

“I came [into the studio] broken,” Nelly recently told Cosmopolitan about the album. “I came there really empty. As cliché as it is, when you’re really going through it, it can be so good for songwriting. I hate saying that, because then people feel like they have to go through adversity to write good stuff, which I don’t think is true … but I’m hands down more proud of these lyrics than any lyrics I’ve ever written.”

The track, along with lead single “Pipe Dreams,” is set to be included on her upcoming sixth studio album The Ride, which will be released everywhere on March 31.

“I’m excited that the lyrics have a lot of weight, because I feel like I”ve genuinely matured. I’m calling it my ‘hangover album’,” Nelly told Billboard. “The party was fun, but then you crash on the ground and wake up the next day and feel kind of cool, but have stuff to deal with. That’s what all the songs are about.”

Nelly Furtado is back at it again with the just released music video for her new single “Pipe Dreams“!

In the clip, the 37-year-old Canadian singer is seen checking out her own reflection and dancing through various rooms of a run-down house.

“Aye new video for Pipe Dreams directed by @JakeElliott_. Filmed in #Dallas, baby. 😘,” Nelly tweeted along with the visual.

“Pipe Dreams” is one of twelve tracks that are set to be featured on Nelly‘s upcoming sixth studio album The Ride, which will be officially released on March 31.

“I would call the sound of the album modern pop-alternative,” Nelly told i-D. “I write pop melodies, I’ve always written pop melodies. But [producer] John Congleton forces me to dig a little deeper and make sure that I’m coming correct with the lyrics. I was also in a really cool phase in my life where I was going through a difficult time of transition and that helped lyrically. I just had so much to write about. I think I grew as a songwriter on this album.”
