Phil Mickelson Wants to Do Another 'The Match' Golf Tournament with These Stars!

Phil Mickelson is ready to hit the green again!

After this past weekend’s The Match: Champions For Charity, the 49-year-old golf pro said that he’s trying to make the tournament an annual event – and wants Michael Jordan and Steph Curry to participate next year.

“I think you could showcase guys like Steph Curry and Michael Jordan or Tony Romo and Patrick Mahomes, who are all good golfers, elite talents and have great personalities,” Phil shared with the LA Times.

“Those personalities are going to come out with this event,” Phil continued. “Or you could have someone who loves the game and is competitive but is really entertaining like Larry David and Bill Murray. I think that could shine.”

Over the weekend, Phil and Tiger Woods partnered up with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, respectively, in the tournament, which benefited a variety of organizations to assist with coronavirus pandemic relief efforts.

The Match raised over $20 million dollars for the organizations.

Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning came out on top after playing in the The Match: Champions For Charity held at Medalist Golf Club on Sunday afternoon (May 24) in Hobe Sound, Fla.

The 44-year-old golfer and 44-year-old former football star played against Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson in the tournament, which benefited a variety of organizations to assist with coronavirus pandemic relief efforts.

The Match raised over $20 million dollars for the organizations.

Tiger, Peyton, Tom and Phil played the full 18 holes without caddies, or a big audience surrounded them. The quartet drove in fancy carts and also attempted to maintain social distancing measures.

Broadcasters also maintained their distance from the golfers and each other as they delivered play by plays of the game on the course.

Phil Mickelson Beats Tiger Woods in $9 Million Match-Play Event

Phil Mickelson just won his $9 million match against Tiger Woods.

The two golfers took part in a highly anticipated head-to-head game on Friday afternoon (November 23) at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Phil narrowly edged out Tiger in the first time match which was close to 22 holes. Neither golfer ever led by more than one hole.

In addition to the $9 million prize, Phil also won $600,000 in charity side bets and $200,000 will go to Tiger‘s handpicked charity.

Earlier today, the televised match was met with some controversy as it was supposed to air on pay-per-view but experienced technical difficulties, which led to it becoming a free event. Many viewers had already paid $19.95 to watch.
