Celine Dion is remembering her late husband Rene Angelil.

The 52-year-old iconic singer took to her Instagram on Thursday (January 14) to pay tribute to Rene on the fifth anniversary of his death.

“René, it’s been 5 years already… There’s not one day that we don’t think about you. We’re reaching out to you now more than ever, to guide us, protect us, and continue to watch over us,” Celine wrote along with a photo of she and Rene holding hands.

“And we pray that you’ll shine your love on the entire world, to all those at this very moment, who are facing incredibly difficult times,” Celine concluded. “You are in our hearts and in our lives forever. We love you, Celine, René-Charles, Nelson and Eddy xx…”

Rene died in 2016 at the age of 74 after battling throat cancer for years.

Celine and Rene married in 1994 and share three kids: 19-year-old son Rene-Charles and her 10-year-old twin sons Nelson and Eddy.

Just a few weeks ago, Celine shared a sweet photo with her sons all in matching Christmas pajamas.

The beloved singer took to her Instagram account on Christmas Eve to share a photo of her and her three kids wearing matching pajamas while gathered around their tree.

“May this holiday season bring all of you the gifts of love, peace, good health, and the promise of brighter days in the New Year ahead! 🎄✨ ❤️,” Celine captioned the post on her social media pages.

Celine is pictured with 19-year-old son Rene-Charles and her 10-year-old twin sons Nelson and Eddy. All three of her kids joined her on stage for the final show of her Las Vegas residency back in 2019.

The five-year anniversary of the death of Celine‘s late husband Rene Angelil is on January 14, 2021.

Celine Dion‘s heart will go on, but her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace came to an end on Saturday night (June 8).

The iconic singer’s residency, which debuted in 2003 and ran for 1,141 performances, came to a close with a sold-out show featuring a premiere of her new song “Flying on My Own” from her upcoming album, Courage.

There was also a photo collage backdrop set to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” featuring images from Celine’s Colosseum shows from the very beginning, and photos of Rene Angelil, her late husband and former manager, as well as their three boys – Rene-Charles, Nelson and Eddy, who also joined Celine and her orchestra and band on stage during the emotional final curtain call.

“I’m both proud and humbled by what we’ve accomplished at The Colosseum since we began 16 years ago, when René and I first shared this dream. This entire experience has been a huge part of my show business career…one that I will cherish forever. I have so many people to thank, but the most important ‘thank you’ goes to my fans, who gave us the opportunity to do what we love,” said Celine.

Celine Dion is opening up about her family life since losing her husband Rene Angelil two years ago in her new cover shoot for Stellar Magazine, available now in News Corp’s Sunday Telegraph and Sunday Herald Sun.

Here’s what the 49-year-old “My Heart Will Go On” singer had to share with the mag:

On the replica of Rene’s hand, cast in bronze, that sits backstage at every concert she plays: “I shake my husband’s hand and knock on wood with him every night before every show. Even after he’s gone, I still talk to him.”

On being on stage throughout her husband’s illness and returning only weeks after his passing: “My husband wanted me to go back onstage before he passed, that’s what he wanted the most. So I went back onstage while he was still alive; he wanted to make sure I could keep going. So I did prove to him yes, 
I could keep going. I told him I’ve got the kids and that he’s got to trust me, he’s got to relax.”

“He taught me so much. He did a great job; what he had been giving to me all his life and all my life will always be with me. He gave me his all. He mortgaged his house to pay for my first album. I guess before he left he wanted to make sure I was fine. I’m trying to prove to him every day I’m fine. Our kids are growing, we feel strong. We’re good.”

On March 30, Celine will turn 50, and she’ll be onstage in Las Vegas performing: “I’m not a birthday girl, not even when I was 20. To be honest, I’d rather be doing a show. But five is my lucky number, so I’m quite excited to turn 50.”

Celine Dion is opening up about her touching nightly tradition.

The 49-year-old singer says she has shared the same bed as her six-year-old twins – Eddy and Nelson – every night since her husband Rene Angelil passed away last year. (See photos of the kids here and here.)

“I organize myself to not feel lonely,” Celine told The Sun. “So I got myself a huge, huge, huge bed and I sleep with my twins. They are comforting me a lot. I need them. I need them close. When it’s time for them to say they want their room, their room’s ready. But we watch a lot of TV together. I’m discovering Disney.”

“They’re really well because I’m strong,” she went on. “I’m sounding pretentious but if I don’t show them the way, they will question it. ‘Papa is not coming back but Papa is in your heart.’”

“We kiss him every night,” Celine added. “We have a little ritual where we say goodnight to him with a little picture. Then the kids talk to him. And they write words, put them in balloons and we send the balloons to the sky.”

Celine Dion has covered Sia’s song “My Love” and released an emotional music video on the first anniversary of her late husband Rene Angelil‘s death.

In the video, Celine goes through and looks at old family photos with Rene and their three kids – Rene-Charles, 15, and six-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy – as she powerfully sings without any music or instruments.

Earlier today, Celine released emotional tribute video to her late husband.
