Rene Russo sits down for an interview on The Queen Latifah Show to open up about living with bipolar disorder.

The 60-year-old Nightcrawler actress revealed that she takes medication for the condition after Queen Latifah asked her and fellow guest Jake Gyllenhaal to reveal something they’ve had to push through in their lives.

“My mom said my whole childhood … was stop and go,” Rene said (via People). “And then I stopped and was like, ‘Whoa,’ that was it for me. I didn’t really expect to say this, but that was really it for me.”

“I literally crashed, hit a wall and couldn’t get out of bed,” Rene said when asked what made her start taking medication. “I thought it was depression, but if you take antidepressants it speeds you up more.”

“I haven’t shared this,” she continued. “I have friends who don’t want to go on medication, and they are suffering.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is dapper in a suit while attending a Variety dinner held at Holt Renfrew during the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday (September 6) held in Toronto, Canada.

The 33-year-old actor, who was honored at the dinner, was joined by his Nightcrawler co-star Rene Russo and director Dan Gilroy.

“I’d say my mother was worried. I would say she just wanted me to be careful. But she also knew and knows how seriously I take what I do and she respects that,” Jake shared to E! about his weight loss for Nightcrawler at the premiere.

He added, “She knows that I’m a big boy and I could handle myself and that I would stay within the realm of being safe, but yes, she worried. She’d be like, ‘You’re cranky�”eat something.’”

Jake Gyllenhaal is dashing in a suit while hitting the premiere of his latest film Nightcrawler during the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival held at The Elgin on Friday (September 5) in Toronto, Canada.

The 33-year-old actor was joined by his co-stars Rene Russo, Riz Ahmed, and director Dan Gilroy.
