Cassadee Pope and her ex-fiance Rian Dawson split back in July and it sounds like she is turning her heartbreak into music.

The 27-year-old former The Voice winner says that she just wrote a “savage” breakup song.

“I actually wrote one just recently that’s pretty, it’s almost a little savage,” Cassadee told ET. “Yeah, it’s a little raw, emotionally. So, I’m like, I might have to throw that guy in there.”

Cassadee says that putting the song out into the world makes her feel “super uncomfortable.”

“It was one of those sessions where I was like, ‘I can’t write about anything else today. I have to write this because it’s all I can think about and it’s been a hard day,’” she said about the writing process. “So I got it out in a song. It was such a raw moment … it’s just very symbolic and shows where I am in my life and that’s important to me.”

The Voice alum Cassadee Pope and her fiance, All Time Low drummer Rian Dawson, have reportedly split and ended their engagement.

News of their split first broke from country music blog Nashville Gab, which has a statement from their rep saying “they have amicably ended their relationship, but remain friends, supportive of each others’ careers, and maintain the utmost respect for one another.”

News quickly spread from there, though Cassadee and Rian have not publicly commented.

The pair announced their engagement this past February. They began seeing each other in 2009.

The 27-year-old entertainer took to her Instagram on Friday (February 10) to announce that her longtime musician boyfriend Rian Dawson popped the question!

“WE’RE ENGAGED,” she excitedly captioned an image showing off the ring.

Rian, who is in rock band All Time Low, also took to his Instagram to add, “The love of my life is now OFFICIALLY the love of my life. Never been happier. :)”

Cassadee and Rian have been dating since 2010, when Cassadee was the front woman of pop-rock band Hey Monday.

The 26-year-old singer, who won the third season of The Voice, was joined at the event by her longtime boyfriend Rian Dawson.

Former American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and his season’s runner-up, Lauren Alaina, both were seen on the red carpet.

Cassadee will be hitting the stage during the show for a performance with Chris Young. They are set to sing “Think of You.”
