Sound of Metal is about a heavy-metal drummer (Ahmed) who starts to lose his hearing and consequently begins to re-evaluate his place in the world.

The 36-year-old entertainer was presented with the IMDb “Breakout Star” STARmeter Award on Friday (September 6) at The IMDb Studio presented By Intuit: QuickBooks Canada at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival at Bisha Hotel & Residences.

IMDb STARmeter Awards recognize the stars who are fan favorites on the IMDbPro STARmeter chart, which is determined by the page views of the more than 200 million unique monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide.

Riz Ahmed is set to to premiere his upcoming film Sound of Metal while at the Toronto Film Festival.

Back in July, Riz hosted a special screening and reception for Netflix’s The Great Hack.

Riz Ahmed is dapper in suit as he hits the red carpet at the special screening and reception for The Great Hack held at the Science Museum on Tuesday evening (July 16) in London, England.
