Natalie Morales, Nicole Byer & Tony Hale Join the Cast of 'Rugrats' Reboot

There are some exciting new additions to the cast of Rugrats!

Deadline reports that Nicole Byer, Tony Hale and Natalie Morales have all been chosen to voice the adult roles in Paramount+’s Rugrats reboot.

Tony will play Chuckie’s father, Natalie will play Phil and Lil’s mother and Nicole will play Susie’s mom.

The cast also includes Ashley Rae Spillers and Tommy Dewey as Tommy’s parents, Anna Chlumsky and Timothy Simons as Angelica’s parents and Michael McKean, as Grandpa Lou Pickles.

The revival is set to debut on Paramount+ this spring and will feature the original cast members reprising their roles on the show.

Nickelodeon President Brian Robbins said of keeping the original cast and adding some new voices, “First of all, we have all the original babies back, all the original cast back, which we are thrilled to have. Some of the original actors — remember the show is 20-25+ years-old, and we thought there was an opportunity for new exciting comedic voices who grew up watching and being fans of the show and let them do cameos. So we are really excited about our adult cast on Rugrats.“

Rugrats are returning!

Nickelodeon has announced that the popular babies Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Angelica Pickles, Susie Carmichael and Phil and Lil DeVille will be back in a new CG-animated series set to premiere on Paramount+ this year.

“Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the globe, and this original version is one we are taking great care and pride in creating for a brand-new audience,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation. “Having the voice cast behind these special characters come together is one of the essential pieces to making the show recognizable and we can’t wait to watch this talented group bring them to life again.”

The new series will also mark the return of original stars E.G. Daily (Tommy), Nancy Cartwright (Chuckie), Cheryl Chase (Angelica), Cree Summer (Susie) and Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil).

It will follow the toddlers as “they explore the world and beyond from their pint-sized and wildly imaginative point-of-view.”

Rugrats originally ran for nine seasons, debuting in 1991.

'Rugrats' & 'Hey Arnold!' Could Be Rebooted by Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon is reportedly getting ready to reboot a bunch of classic shows and Rugrats and Hey Arnold! could be two of them.

“We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way,” Russell Hicks, the network’s president of content and development, told Variety. “We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones they’ve told us multiple times they want to have brought back.”

Hicks has not revealed which ones will be brought back, but it is being speculated that You Can’t Do That on Television and Victorious could be rebooted in addition to the previously mentioned shows. The exec notes that the generation that grew up with these shows now has children of its own.
