'School of Rock' Television Series Has Found Its Jack Black Replacement in Comedian Tony Cavalero!

Nickelodeon’s School of Rock television series has found its Dewey Finn in actor and comedian Tony Cavalero!

The comedian – who regularly performs with The Groundlings in Los Angeles – has taken over the role that Jack Black made famous back in the 2003 film of the same name.

“I am so honored to be part of the rad legacy that is ‘School of Rock,’” Tony said in a statement (via The Wrap). “Jack Black is one of my biggest comedy influences and I am ready to shred!”

Tony has previously appeared on Modern Family and 2 Broke Girls.

No premiere date has been set as of yet, but the show will have 13 episodes.

'School of Rock' TV Series is Heading to Nickelodeon!

It has been ten years since Jack Black‘s School of Rock became one of our favorite movies and now it is heading to Nickelodeon as the basis of a new television series!

The show will follow the same premise of the movie: “The adventures and misadventures of Dewey Finn (Black‘s role), a down-on-his-luck rocker who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school as he teaches his eccentric, unconventional and overachieving students to play and love rock ‘n’ roll,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While we can only dream that Jack will make an appearance on the show, we sure are hoping Miranda Cosgrove will make a return to Nickelodeon for the series!

“With Dewey’s outrageous personality and rock star sensibilities taking center stage, School of Rock will be an irresistibly fun show for the whole family,” Paramount TV president Amy Powell said.
