Sinéad O'Connor Is Going to Rehab for Trauma & Addiction

Sinéad O’Connor is getting help.

The 53-year-old “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer revealed on Twitter that she will be seeking treatment for trauma and addiction.

“I had a very traumatic six years and this year was the end of it but now recovery starts. This year I lost someone beloved and has affected me so badly that I became briefly addicted to a drug other than weed,” she explained.

“I grew up with a lot of trauma and abuse. I then went straight into the music business. And never learned really how to make a normal life. Never took proper time to heal. Wasn’t ready to either,” she added.

Back in 2017, she appeared on Dr. Phil to talk about the sexual, emotional and physical abuse she faced as a child from her mother. She also got candid and revealed she was suicidal around that time.

“If I take this time to heal, I will be fit for a lifetime of touring. If I don’t, I won’t. If you knew the six years I’ve had, [you'd] know what I’m talking about. And I will explain very clearly in 2022,” she shared.

She also revealed she’ll release a “s— kicking album” before she leaves and that her memoir is planned for June of 2021.

“Treatment begins next week so I’ll still be posting here until then. Mostly about what a total twat [Donald] Trump is. And how he’s way too stupid not to be clever. They may as well just have Putin openly in charge of America since he’s been running it for four years anyway.”

We are wishing the best to Sinead in her recovery.

Sinead O'Connor Says She is Suicidal in Facebook Video Filmed in Motel Room

Sinead O’Connor has posted a distressed video on her Facebook claiming she is suicidal and asking her family to get in touch with her.

The 50-year-old “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer shared the clip just before the weekend from a Travelodge in South Hackensack, N.J., where she has apparently been living, though NorthJersey.com reported on Monday that there was no record of her staying at the motel.

“Suddenly, all the people who are supposed to be loving you or taking care of you treat you like s–t,” Sinead says in the video. “If it was me, I’d be gone, straight away back to my mom.”

“Why are we alone?” she continues. “People who suffer from mental illness are the most vulnerable people on Earth. You’ve got to take care of us. We’re not like everybody. … I just want to make this video so you all could see what the f–k it’s like. It’s the stigma that’s killing people, not the mental f–king illnesses.”

“If you have a family member that suffers from mental illness, care for them, tenderness, love, care for them,” she adds. “Visit them in the hospital, don’t dump them in the hospital and bugger off.”

Sinead was reported missing by her son Jake Reynolds back in May 2016. She was later found safe at a hotel and brought to the hospital.

We hope Sinead is able to get in touch with her family. If you or someone you love is suffering from mental illness or suicidal thoughts, call or chat with the Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Sinead O'Connor Retracts Claim Arsenio Hall Gave Prince Drugs

Sinead O’Connor is apologizing to comedian Arsenio Hall for making claims that he provided the late Prince with drugs.

The 50-year-old singer had implied that Arsenio contributed to his April 2016 death.

“I apologize for my Facebook posts about Arsenio Hall to the extent that anyone thought I was accusing him of acting as Prince‘s drug dealer and supplying him with illegal hard drugs, or insinuating that Arsenio had something to do with Prince‘s death,” she told TMZ.

Sinead added, “I sincerely apologize because those statements would be false, and I retract them unequivocally.”

Arsenio has since dropped his $5 million libel lawsuit against her.
