Heartstopper‘s Joe Locke is headed to Broadway in Sweeney Todd!
The 20-year-old actor will be portraying the role of Tobias in the Stephen Sondheim musical.
Joe will begin performances on January 31, Deadline reports.

Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford are exiting Sweeney Todd on Broadway in January 2024 and their replacements have been revealed to be Broadway vets Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster!
You may have previously seen Aaron in his Tony Award winning role in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, as well as Sutton in her Tony nominated performance in The Music Man. Sutton is a 7 time nominee and 2 time winner at the Tonys as well. They’ll take on the roles of Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett, respectively.

Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford, the lead performers of Broadway’s smash hit Sweeney Todd revival, will both miss performances this week as they’ve tested positive for COVID-19.
There has been a surge of cases in New York City and it sadly has affected the cast of the Broadway show.
Josh has been out of the show since Thursday (August 17) while Annaleigh has been out since Tuesday (August 22). Josh will be back in the show on August 24 while Annaleigh‘s return date is unknown at the moment.

On Tuesday (September 6), Deadline confirmed that the two stars would be leading a new production of the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler classic musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
It had previously been reported that Josh and Annaleigh had joined the cast after Ticketmaster leaked the news on Monday.

The classic musical Sweeney Todd is coming back to Broadway next year and it appears that Ticketmaster has leaked the official news.
Rumors have been swirling for months that Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford will lead the revival of Stephen Sondheim‘s beloved show. Now, it appears the news has been confirmed.
Ticketmaster has listed ticket links for the Sweeney Todd revival and pre-sale tickets are going on sale in a matter of hours. Performances will begin on February 26, 2023 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City, according to the ticket website. When tickets go on sale, they will be available through September 10, 2023.
