We won’t be getting to see Tenet for a long time.

The Christopher Nolan film, starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, has been delayed again, The Hollywood Reporter says.

At first the movie was delayed from July 17 to July 31, and just recently had an August 12 premiere date. However, that doesn’t look plausible as coronavirus cases in the United States surge.

Warner Bros Pictures is expected to announce a new plan for the movie in the coming days, and it’s reported that Tenet could open to overseas markets first, and then in U.S. cities where theaters can safely open.

“Our goals throughout this process have been to ensure the highest odds of success for our films while also being ready to support our theater partners with new content as soon as they could safely reopen,” Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich shared.

He adds, “We will share a new 2020 release date imminently for Tenet, Christopher Nolan’s wholly original and mind-blowing feature. We are not treating Tenet like a traditional global day-and-date release, and our upcoming marketing and distribution plans will reflect that.”

Recently, it was reported that Christopher was insistent on a summer release, hoping that Tenet would lead the way in bringing back the movies to theaters.

Tenet‘s release date keeps getting pushed back by small increments of two weeks at a time and many are wondering why the film is not being delayed by months due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

With cases surging across the United States, fans are pointing out that the film will likely make so much less money than it would under totally normal box office circumstances.

Well, THR is explaining why the Christopher Nolan-flick is determined to be released as soon as possible.

During a phone call, when studio heads apparently urged Christopher to push back the release date for a safer and more economically sound date, he resisted. “Nolan said it wasn’t about money, but instead about the desire to be the one the first big studio films back in theaters, to show faith in the form and solidarity with exhibitors, when they’re allowed to open and say they’re ready,” THR reports.

The release date is currently set for August 12.

Fans will have to wait another couple weeks to see the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie Tenet as Warner Bros. has decided to push its release again.

The film was originally scheduled to be released in theaters on July 17, but then the studio decided to delay the release to July 31 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Movie theaters around the country are planning on reopening on July 15, but COVID-19 cases are rising in the U.S. and things might change for reopening plans. The Tenet release date is now going to be August 12, but this could still change.

“Warner Bros. is committed to bringing Tenet to audiences in theaters, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready and public health officials say it’s time,” a Warner Bros. spokesperson said in a statement (via Variety). “In this moment what we need to be is flexible, and we are not treating this as a traditional movie release. We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy.”

The highly anticipated Christopher Nolan movie Tenet will be released in theaters on July 31, two weeks after the original release date of July 17.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Nolan was adamant that his movie be released in theaters instead of on VOD like some other films over the past few months. Reports stated that he was hopeful that the movie could maintain its July 17 release date.

Warner Bros. will now release a 10th anniversary edition of Nolan‘s movie Inception on July 17 to get fans excited for the release of Tenet.

“We are excited that our partners at Warner Bros. will offer a new generation of film fans the opportunity to enjoy Inception the way it was originally intended to be seen — on the big screen. Over these last months we have been keeping Warner Bros. closely informed of our work towards reopening our theatres in accordance with governmental health and safety requirements, and we are looking forward to audiences enjoying Tenet in our theaters all around the world on July 31st,” the National Association of Theater Owners said in a statement.

Most movie theaters around the country have been closed since mid-March and some are beginning to reopen with social distancing measures in place.

Kenneth Branagh is one of the stars of the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie Tenet and it seems he was just as confused by the film’s plot as his co-stars.

Robert has said that he had no idea what was happening in the movie while they were filming it.

Kenneth said that he had to read the script more times than he’s read any other script before.

“I kid you not, I read this screenplay more times than I have ever read any other thing I have ever worked on,” he told Total Film (via Syfy). “It was like doing the Times crossword puzzle every day, I would imagine. Except the film and the screenplay didn’t expect you, or need you, to be an expert.”

Kenneth was asked if he plays the antagonist in the movie and he said, “Given the nature of it, as Chris to some extent sort of reinvents the wheel here, a lot of people start engaging with John David Washington‘s character in both expected ways…so you might expect me to be an antagonist…but then [the story] doesn’t quite follow what you might expect as the story plays out.”

The movie is going to keep fans guessing about the character throughout the film.

“In the playing of it, and in the scenes, he keeps upturning, or playing forward and backward, our expectations of what the character should be,” he said. “So my conversations with [Nolan] about my character were constant, because the character’s evolution was not set. It was a series of constant surprises.”

Christopher Nolan is opening up about his upcoming film, Tenet, and if the movie will keep its original release date planned for July.

The director spoke to Total Film magazine (via The Playlist) about the premiere date and noted that the production team is still “finishing the film, and the film will be ready for when theaters reopen.”

Christopher added that “at this stage, that is all there is to say about it, really.”

Tenet, with John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, has been planned as a theatrical release in July and is possibly the only film on the release schedule that hasn’t been postponed.

In a brand new TV spot for the movie, more hints were dropped about what the flick is actually about, too.

The promo shows Clemence Poesy talking about the magical technology, saying that “it’s inverted…someone’s manufacturing them in the future.”

We’ll have to wait to see what that actually means when the movie hits theaters.

Christopher Nolan is leaving some special effects out of his upcoming movie, Tenet.

In an interview with Total Film magazine, the filmmaker revealed that he skipped over effects and bought a real Boeing 747 plane only to blow it up in one of the key sequences in the movie.

“I planned to do it using miniatures and set-piece builds and a combination of visual effects and all the rest,” he shared. “However, while scouting for locations in Victorville, California, the team discovered a massive array of old planes.”

Christopher continued that after running the numbers, buying the plane was just most cost effective.

“[It was] actually be more efficient to buy a real plane of the real size, and perform this sequence for real in camera, rather than build miniatures or go the CG route,” he added.

“It’s a strange thing to talk about – a kind of impulse buying, I suppose,” Christopher went on. “But we kind of did, and it worked very well, with Scott Fisher, our special-effects supervisor, and Nathan Crowley, the production designer, figuring out how to pull off this big sequence in camera. It was a very exciting thing to be a part of.”
