The Gifted and Rel are being canceled by FOX.

The network is canceling both shows, according to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday (April 17).

The show cancellations are the first announced for the newly independent Fox Entertainment.

The Gifted just finished its second season. The Marvel show’s renewal was already unlikely because almost all Marvel television is exclusively on Disney-owned platforms.

Rel starred Lil Rel Howery and was inspired by his life. The comedy followed a guy whose life is put to the test when he learns that his wife is having an affair with his barber and tries to rebuild his life post-divorce as a long-distance single father on the South Side of Chicago.

Fox’s The Gifted has been renewed for a second season!

Set in the X-Men universe, The Gifted tells the emotional story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their teenage children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family seeks help from an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, and Blair Redford star in the series, which was one of the most successful Fall premiere shows on TV this past year!

The first trailer for Marvel’s The Gifted, coming to Fox in the fall, just debuted!
