The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest movie has failed to bring the masses to theaters, grossing just $47 million domestically in its opening weekend – the lowest of any MCU title.

A sequel to 2019′s Captain Marvel, The Marvels brought back Brie Larson as the intergalactic superhero and featured Iman Vellani‘s Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris‘ Captain Monica Rambeau as co-leads for the first time on the big screen.

Disney CEO Bob Iger is sharing his thoughts on the box-office performance of The Marvels.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest movie failed to attract the masses, as it scored the lowest opening weekend of any of the franchise’s titles, earning just $47 million domestically. The Marvels then recorded the MCU’s largest second-weekend drop, falling 78% from the previous week.

'The Marvels' Director Nia DaCosta's Rep Explains Why She Wasn't at Cast & Crew Screening Amid Criticism

When The Marvels hit theaters earlier this month, it was just hours after the SAG-AFTRA strike had ended.

A cast and crew screening was held on November 8 in Los Angeles, though the cast wasn’t allowed to attend due to the strike not ending until midnight that evening. There have been reports that crew members were surprised to see director Nia DaCosta not in attendance.

THR put up a report saying that there were “miffed Marvel staffers grumbling” at the screening over Nia‘s absence.

Nia‘s rep has released a statement explaining why she wasn’t there and there’s a very good reason!
