Production of The Matrix 4 is hoping to be up and running again by early July.

The cast of Lana Wachowski’s fourth installment of the franchise has signed on for eight-week extensions to keep the actors on hold until at least July 6, Variety reports.

Filming originally started back in February in San Francisco, before moving to Berlin in early March for the completion of its shoot. However, cameras never started rolling in Europe because the pandemic shut down production.

The Matrix 4 will star Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Yahya Abdul Mateen, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jonathan Groff.

The flick is set to be released on May 21, 2021, but it remains to be seen whether the delay in production will result in a later release date.

The Matrix has joined the growing list of movies shut down due to coronavirus concerns.

The film was shooting in San Francisco but moved to Berlin in early March for the completion of its shoot, THR is reporting.

Tentatively titled The Matrix 4, the movie will reunite Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss, and will be directed by Lana Wachowski.

Keanu Reeves is back to work on The Matrix movie!

The fourth installment of the film is already filming and cast and crew were spotted by passerbys on Wednesday (February 5) in San Francisco, Calif.

Keanu will be returning for the new film in his iconic role of Neo. The movie is currently set for release on May 21, 2021.

Priyanka Chopra is in talks to join The Matrix 4!

Right now, whatever role she may play in the film is being kept top secret, Variety reports. The cast has been fight training for weeks and preparing for shooting to start, which is scheduled ASAP!

The film also stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Neil Patrick Harris.

Currently, The Matrix 4 is set to be released on May 21, 2021. Funnily enough, Keanu has another movie set to be released that same day.

Warner Bros. has announced the release dates for upcoming projects, including The Matrix 4 and The Flash standalone film.

The Matrix 4, which will see the return of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, is currently set for release on May 21, 2021.

Ezra Miller‘s standalone The Flash movie has been set for July 1, 2022.

In addition, Warner Bros. made some other moves. The Mortal Kombat movie has been moved from its original March 2021 date to January 15, 2021.

They also plan to release movies on October 16, 2020, January 29, 2021, and March 5, 2021, though those still remain unknown at this time.

Jonathan Groff has booked his next movie role!

The 34-year-old Mindhunters star and voice of Kristoff in Frozen 2 has signed on to join the cast of The Matrix 4, Collider reports.

As of right now, Jonathan‘s role in the Lana Wachowski-directed movie is being kept under wraps.

As previously reported, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will return for the movie, and it’s been speculated that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play a young Morpheus.

Neil Patrick Harris, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jessica Henwick are reportedly in talks to join the movie.

The Matrix 4 isn’t expected to hit theaters until 2022.

Jessica Henwick is the latest reported star in talks to join the cast of Matrix 4!

The 27-year-old Iron Fist actress is reportedly in talks for a lead role in the upcoming movie, Deadline reported on Wednesday (October 16).

According to the report, she “performed quite strongly during the audition process. There’s been buzz around town that Matrix 4 director and co-scribe Lana Wachowski is looking to have a female-like Neo character at the forefront of the new film.”

As previously reported, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will return for the movie, and it’s been speculated that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play a young Morpheus.

Neil Patrick Harris and Jada Pinkett Smith are also reportedly in talks to star.
