'The OA' Cancelled By Netflix After 2 Seasons

The OA has been cancelled by Netflix after just two seasons on the streaming service.

Netflix does not routinely reveal viewership data, but the Brit Marling-led show received favorable reviews from critics.

“We are incredibly proud of the 16 mesmerizing chapters of The OA, and are grateful to Brit and Zal for sharing their audacious vision and for realizing it through their incredible artistry,” Netflix head of originals Cindy Holland said in a statement. “We look forward to working with them again in the future, in this and perhaps many other dimensions.”

The list of original TV shows that Netflix has cancelled this year is extensive and keeps growing!

Jason Isaacs & Brit Marling Step Out for 'The OA: Part II' Premiere

Jason Isaacs and Brit Marling buddy up on the red carpet at the premiere of The OA: Part II on Tuesday night (March 19) at the LACMA in Los Angeles.

The co-stars were joined at the premiere of the second season of their hit show by fellow cast mates Kinglsey Ben-Adir, Ian Alexander, Phyllis Smith, Brandon Perea, Chloe Levine, Brendan Meyer, and Zoey Todorovsky along with show co-creator Zal Batmanglij.

Also stepping out for the premiere, was Phyllis‘ former The Office co-star Leslie David Baker.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Brit stars as Prairie Johnson, a blind woman who went missing for seven years and returns home with her sight restored.

'The OA' Renewed For Second Season By Netflix

Good news, The OA fans – the show will be back.

Netflix just picked it up for a second season, according to THR, though it’s unclear for how many episodes and when it will premiere.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Brit Marling stars as Prairie Johnson, a blind woman who went missing for seven years and returns home with her sight restored.

While many believe she is a miracle, others worry that she could be dangerous.

Netflix's 'The OA' Cast List - Meet Brit Marling & Others!

Netflix only announced the release of its new series The OA a few days ago and now every episode of the first season is available to stream instantly.

Brit Marling stars in the series and she created it with longtime collaborator Zal Batmanglij.

Here is the synopsis for the new show: Seven years after vanishing from her home, a young woman returns with mysterious new abilities and recruits five strangers for a secret mission.

Brit Marling's 'The OA' Will Debut on Netflix This Friday!

Netflix just surprised fans by announcing that Brit Marling‘s new series The OA will debut in full this Friday (December 16).

All eight episodes of the new show will be made available at 12:01am PST and it looks like it will be intense!

Brit plays a woman who went missing as a blind child and returns with her sight fully restored.

“She’s our daughter – but she’s never seen us before. Seven years ago, when she went missing, she was blind,” Brit‘s father in the series says to start the trailer.

Also starring in the series are Jason Isaacs and Brooklyn‘s Emory Cohen.
